All-Star Trophy Player Of The Week; Cora Weirens

(KNSI) - When a team has set a standard for themselves to "never quit until the ball hits the ground," they tend to look toward their more experienced players that embody that mantra.
Senior outside-hitter Cora Weirens of Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm Volleyball has done exactly that.
Although the stats do not always reflect hustle and determination, Weirens' stats are actually piling up quite nicely as of late.
Weirens is one of the main attackers for the Storm and now has nearly 100 kills on the season and she is seemingly getting stronger and more aggressive on the attack each match.
The powerful Weirens also has added 38 service-points and 20 ace-serves but what the senior brings most to the team is leadership and a positive attitude.
KNSI Radio has broadcasted three of the last four matches that the Storm played and play-by-play announcer Tom Terhaar has been impressed with Weirens.
"Cora was attacking the ball really, really well for the Storm; she was attacking the ball in the air and she was going down the line and picking her spots very well."
The Storm are currently 5-8 on the season but they just lost a five-setter to a tough Wilmar team and they have been playing tough defense all season.
KNSI Radio will be there once again Thursday night, October 3rd when the Storm travel to ROCORI to take on the Spartans.
If Weirens continues to play the way she has throughout the season, it could be a fun stretch for the Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm.
Congratulations, Cora and good luck to you and the Sauk Rapid-Rice Storm Volleyball Team the rest of this season and beyond!
