(KNSI) - Unless one is completely closed off from civilization, they would notice we are not having a normal spring season.

That being said, the show must go on and some athletes even thrive in adverse conditions.

The above was certainly true for St. Cloud Cathedral Junior, Cole Tetrault while performing at a Granite Ridge Conference Indoor meet in early April.

Not only did Tetrault take first in the triple jump, he nearly matched his career long by leaping 40 feet and one-half inch.

With the inability to practice outdoors and only having so much time to practice before the meet, head coach Rick Fleege was pleased with what he saw out of Tetrault.

“I think this is quite an achievement,” Fleege said.

Tetrault was not finished as he also anchored Cathedral’s 4x200 relay that was merely .43 seconds behind first place.

Coach Fleege also noted that the only relay exchange practice the team had was at this meet due to weather and their limited space.

Tetrault also shows off his running and jumping skills as an accomplished soccer player for Cathedral in the fall.

Although just a junior, Tetrault is considering both track and field and soccer when he decides which college to attend.

Tetrault’s perseverance when facing adversity will most undoubtedly come to the forefront when schools look his way.

If colleges ask coach Fleege about Tetrault, they are likely to get a ringing endorsement, and not just about athletics.

“Cole is an excellent student and a positive role model.”

Fleege then added, “Cole is responsible, personable and accountable. These are all attributes I like in a student-athlete.”

Good luck to you and your teams in the future, Cole!
