(KNSI) - Very few high school basketball careers end with the player riding off into the sunset with a state championship.

However, if one works hard enough, their career ends with them atop nearly every statistical category in their school’s history.

A championship was not in the books for Sauk Rapids-Rice Senior, Cody Landwehr, and his illustrious career came to an end.

The five-year-starter’s 1,656 points are enough for him to end his career as the Storm’s All-Time Scoring Leader.

Landwehr’s efforts at state earned a “Cody Landwehr” chant from the Storm crowd to go with his Player of the Week Award.

Although very humble about it, Landwehr’s mother, Heidi, sounded every bit the proud mother.

“Cody has blessed us on the court as well as in the classroom. It’s going to be fun watching him as a Beaver at Bemidji State.”

Once factoring that Landwehr is also the club’s leader in rebounds and shot-blocking, the moniker “Mr. Everything” from head coach Derek Peterson is quite fitting.

When talking about his team and especially Landwehr, coach Peterson never shies away from adding a few superlatives.

“[Cody] is a wonderful student and athlete. He is a leader on and off the court and role model for all.”

Landwehr is a Senior Captain and an integral part of a Storm basketball squad that ended their season with two losses at the Minnesota State High School Boys Basketball Tournament March 22nd.

Although the future is still bright for Landwehr and the Storm, coach Peterson added a little more about what his senior captain meant to his team.

“[Cody] will be greatly missed in our program. I feel blessed to have had the chance to coach him for the last five years. He has helped make our program better.”

Congrats to Cody and the Storm on a fantastic 2017-2018 season! (Picture below compliments of Kim Brown)
