(KNSI) - Before wrestlers everywhere get upset, KNSI Sports knows there is no such thing as a “player” when it comes to wrestling.

The sport takes hard work, commitment and dedication to achieve what St. Cloud Tech’s Austin Brenner has done in his career.

However, avoiding giving it to wrestlers just because of the terminology, would be a grievous error.

Brenner achieved high school wrestling immortality Saturday morning by winning for the 200th time in his illustrious career. That win and his fifth berth the state was plenty to make him The All-Star Trophy Player of the Week.

Immediately following his 200th win, Brenner won his next two matches by a combined score of 40-7 en route to a Section 8AAA Championship and fifth Minnesota Wrestling State berth.

The 4-year Captain for the Tech Tigers, Brenner will look to improve on his fifth, fourth, third and second-place finishes at State.

Brenner is currently the second-ranked wrestler at 160 pounds in AAA just behind the only undefeated entrant, Owatonna's Peyton Robb.

Tech Wrestling Head Coach, Robert Boeck stated, “He [Brenner] is focused on winning a state title this year. He is a hard worker in the room and everyone looks up to him.”

After bidding for his first state championship March 1st through the 3rd at the Xcel Energy Center, Brenner will head to NDSU to wrestle for the Bison. Good luck this week Austin and in your future endeavors!
