(KNSI) - As cliche as it sounds, the basketball playoffs are the perfect time for an athlete to perform their best.

That is exactly what is happening right now for Sauk Rapids-Rice Boys Basketball senior, Anthony Massman.

Massman is the senior captain for the Storm and has really “stepped up in our two playoff wins” according to head coach Derek Peterson.

Massman scored 17 points against Sartell and 20 points against Detroit Lakes.

“He has also played excellent defense and rebounded very well for us in those two wins” coach Peterson added.

It’s not unusual for Massman to perform this well as he currently ranks inside the top-20 in all of Minnesota for 3-pointers made.

Gustavus Adolphus College has already accepted Massman to play football for them and will undoubtedly consider looking at him for basketball if he continues to perform this well.

The Storm will welcome more torrid play from Massman this Thursday night as they travel to Alexandria to take on Fergus Falls in the Section 8AAA Championship.

Not only is Massman great on the court, coach Peterson says, "[Anthony] is an outstanding person on and off the court and an excellent student."

Congratulations Anthony and good luck to you and your team this Thursday night and beyond!

The Section 8AAA Championship between Sauk Rapids-Rice and Fergus Falls can be heard on KNSI at 7:45 pm this Thursday night.
