(KNSI) – The Section 6AA Semi-Final and rubber-match between the Cathedral Crusaders and the Albany Huskies did not disappoint once again.

Nick Schaefer hit a big three-pointer after snatching a defensive rebound with authority to get the Crusaders on the scoreboard.

Jackson Jangula dished to a wide-open Andrew Weisser to grab Cathedral their first lead of the game and then he put them up by five with his next three-pointer.

Fearless play on an aggressive drive to the basket out of Jangula then put Cathedral up by five once again and the score became 16-11.

Albany cut the Crusader lead to one after Mitchell Reber hit a big three-point-bucket and the battle continued on.

Weisser hit his third three-pointer to put the Crusaders up 22-15 and give himself 12 points early in the game.

Cathedral then deliberately slowed the game down in an attempt to lengthen their lead into the half but Albany received a beautiful reverse layup from Nolan Rueter to keep things close.

Hahn cut the Cathedral lead to four after hitting a big basket and Rueter scored his eighth point from beyond the arc to bring the Huskies within one point.

Immediately following the Albany basket, Schneider extended the Cathedral lead with yet another big three-pointer.

With 20-seconds left in the half, Cathedral held for the final shot but it was no good and they still held the slim lead 30-28.

Aggression continued to be the key for Cathedral as they continued the offensive pressure early in the second half.

With 14:30 left in the game, Albany tied the game up with a big bucket from Jordan Schiffler.

The Huskies then took their first lead in the second half when Adam Winkles scored his first points of the game and they had a 34-32 lead.

Hahn then put the Huskies up by four with workman-like effort and the Crusaders had to fight from behind.

Schaefer finally revved-up his offense when he scored his ninth point of the game to keep Cathedral within two at 39-37.

While doing a bit of everything for the Crusaders, Schaefer hit two big free-throws and the game was tied at 39 with just over eight minutes to play.

Both teams traded big baskets and game was tied briefly until Albany took back the lead by five after Schiffler hit a tough runner in the lane.

With inside three minutes to play, Isaac Nett extended the lead for the Huskies to 51-45 with a tough basket while being defended tightly.

Schiffler then hit his first three-pointer to extend their lead by seven and they immediately got the ball back after a rare mistake by the Crusaders.

With less than one minute to go in the game, Albany had the ball with a seven-point-lead but failed to score.

Cathedral scored a quick basket with 12 seconds to go but Schiffler hit both of his free-throws to keep the lead to seven.

Even after another quick bucket, time continued to grind away in the game and wound down on Cathedral’s season with a Section 6AA loss to Albany by the score of 56-52.

Hahn from Albany was the leading scorer with 19 points and he also added seven rebounds.

In the loss, Schaefer had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds and was named the All-Star Trophy Player of the Game.

Cathedral falls to 21-8 on the season; Albany takes their 23-5 record to take on Melrose on Friday in the Section 6AA Championship Game.
