Player of the Week: Storm's Megan Gaffkey

Storm's Megan Gaffkey

SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (MSC) - With her team off to a slow start, this week's All-Star Trophy and Award Player of the Week used offense and defense to help her squad secure win number one on the season.

Megan Gaffkey and her Sauk Rapids Rice girls basketball team-mates carried a trio of tough losses into last Thursday night's game against St. Cloud Cathedral. When all was said and done however, they carried out a strong, impressive win against a tough non-conference opponent.

On the night Gaffkey, a junior for the Storm, notched 12 points to help key the storm to the 46-40 victory. The 46 points marked the most scored so far this year for first year head coach Joey Waters and Sauk Rapids Rice. Gaffkey's offense aside, the 5'10 forward also played strong on the glass, grabbing 7 rebounds. Add in three steals for Gaffkey and she easily took home honors as player of the game and week.
