ST. CLOUD, Minn. (MSC) - For a guy that started the season with his eye swollen shut, Jake Martig, this week's All-Start Trophy and Award Player of the Week, hit his stride in two games on the court for the St. Cloud Tech Tigers last week.
Martig put on a show on the Metro Sports Commission airwaves Tuesday with 14 points in a 67-51 win over Rocori on Tuesday. He began the week of practice wearing goggles because he took a poke to the eye in a pre-season scrimmage that had him on the bench and out of action headed into the start of the year. Martig helped the Tigers maintain a big lead throughout most of the game Tuesday, with 12 of his 14 coming in the 2nd half.
The Junior, who doubles as a wide-out on the football team, then really hit his stride late last week when he led the Tigers in scoring with 22 in a 71-55 victory over Fergus Falls on Thursday.
