Shots on Goal: -40.
When that shows up on the stat sheet, you almost need not look at the score. A blow-out would seem to be in the offing.
But not with this week's Metro Sports Commission Player of the Week in goal.
Sartell/Sauk Rapids-Rice girls hockey goalie Erin Deters stopped 54 out of 55 shots against her in a game last week against Warroad, the number one team in the state. And even though the Stormin' Sabres took a hard 1-0 loss, Deters turned back that top competition time and again.
In two of the three Sartell/Sauk Rapids games this past week Deters turned allowed just a single goal. On the season She averages under 2 goals per game, stopping 94% of the shots taken against her.
Deters, a senior, has helped the Stormin' Sabres to ten wins and lost just five times as the team is 13-8 overall and in first place by a half game in the Central Lakes Conference.
Congratulations Erin Deters on being the All Star Trophy and Awards Player of the Week!
