Even in defeat there was something special about what sophomore Brindley Theisen did for the St. Cloud Crusaders in a loss last week to the Annandale Cardinals.
The sharp shooting guard with a nose for the bucket poured in 34 points in the 84-74 season ending loss for the Crusaders boys basketball team in the 5AA sub-section finals. A two soon end to a tremendous season for Theisen, who is just showing flashes of the tremendous player he could be.
It is that very fact that Theisen's effort is so impressive. With the rest of the team cold for most of the second half, the Cardinals were able to collapse on the young Crusader guard, and yet Theisen continued to knock down shots and find his way to the basket for another in a handful of 30+ point games. On the season Theisen averaged over 20 points per game for the Crusaders.
With only a couple exiting seniors, the Crusaders bring back a strong core of players after making the sub-section finals run this season. Brindley Theisen will be at the core of that, and the 34 points along with player of the week honors could be just the start of great things to come.
Congratulations Brindley Theisen on being the All Star Trophy and Awards Player of the Week!
