LOCAL BASEBALL ROUNDUP

Back for a fourth season at KNSI with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. Including not only game summaries, but upcoming schedules, league standings. Tournament summaries and an occasional special interest feature. The plan is to continue to include: Lakewood League, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South and Stearns County teams throughout their league playoffs, regional and state tourney games. CENTRAL VALLEY LEAGUE

ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 7 COLD SPRING ROCKIES 3 (5/6/17 @ Cold Spring)

The Gussies defeated the Rockies in both teams opening Central Valley League play. Travis Laudenbach started on the mound for the Gussies, he threw 6 innings to earn the win. He gave up 6 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Zach Laudenbach threw the final 3 innings in relief to earn the save, he gave up 4 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 3 strikeouts. The Gussies offense was led by Nate Laudenbach, he went 3-5 and he scored 2 runs and Nate Gwost went 2-5 and he scored 2 runs. Zack Laudenbach had a busy game, he earned a pair of walks, scored a run and he was credited with 2 RBI's. Aaron Fruth went 1-4 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he scored a run. Adam Gwost went 1-5 with a big double for a RBI and Brady Graft went 1-5 with a booming double for a RBI and he scored a run. Player/manager Dusty Schultenzburg had a sacrifice bunt, scored a run and was credited with a RBI. Marcus Lommel had a good game as he went 2-5 and Mitch Gwost earned a pair of walks.

The Rockies starting pitcher Trevor Lardy threw a complete game, he gave up 10 hits, 7 runs, 4 walks and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Jordan Neu had a very good game for the Rockies, he went 3-5 with 2 doubles for a 1 RBI and he scored a run. Marshal Wirtzfeld had a good game, he went 2-5 with a RBI and Jake Hennen went 1-4 with a walk. Andrew Allar went 1-5, Austin Dufner went 1-4 and Mason Ruegemer went 1-3 and he earned a walk. Eli Backes earned a walk and he scored a run and Patrick Hemingson went 1-4. The Rockies were missing a few ball players that are either playing in college or are coaching.


PEARL LAKE LAKERS 2 WATKINS CLIPPERS 0 (5/6/17 @ Marty)

The Lakers pulled off a huge upset in Central Valley action as they defeated the Clippers 2-0. The Lakers Tommy Linn started on the mound, he threw 7 2/3 innings to earn the win. He gave up just 3 hits, walked 5 and he recorded 1 strikeout. Justin Kunkel threw 1 1/3 innings in relief to earn the save, he recorded 3 strikeouts. The Laker took advantage of their opportunities to score when they had them. They left just two runners stranded thru out the ball game, they had just 2 hits and 4 walks. Ryan Wieneke went 1-2 with a big double for a RBI and he walked. Mitch Wieneke went 1-3 with a RBI and he earned a walk. Tommy Linn earned a pair of walks and he scored two runs and Justin Kunkel earned a walk.

The Clippers player/manager Matt Geislinger started on the mound and he threw 7 1/3 innings. He did take the loss, he gave up just 2 hits, walked 4 and he recorded 11 strikeouts. The Clippers left 8 runners stranded on the bases, as the did have several opportunities to score. Kevin Kramer went 1-4, Brendan Ashton went 1-3 and he was hit by a pitch and Reese Jansen went 1-3, was hit by a pitch and he had a stolen base. Lincoln Haugen earned a pair of walks, Matt Geislinger, Travis Linn and Hunter Mathis all earned walks. The Clippers were missing a number of players that are either playing college ball or were coaching.


KIMBALL EXPRESS 10 ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 9. (11 Innings) (5/7 @ Kimball)

The Express defeated Central Valley rivals the Gussies, in 11 innings, both teams left 13 runners stranded on the base and both teams collected 15 hits. The Dingmann brothers did the pitching for the Express. Zach started, he threw 5 innings, he gave up 9 hits, 2 walks, 7 runs and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Matt threw 4 1/3 innings in relief, he gave up 5 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Andy threw 1 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up one hit.

The Express offense was led by four players with multi hit games, Kyle Winter had good day at the plate, he went 4-6 with 2 RBI's and he scored 2 runs. Adam Beyer had a good game, he went 3-6 with a double for a RBI and Austin Ruehle went 2-4 with a RBI, he scored a run and he was hit by a pitch. Scott Marquardt went 2-5 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he had a stolen base. Brian Marquardt went 1-2 with a stolen base and he scored 2 runs and Brooks Marquardt went 1-5 and he scored a pair of runs. Ben Johnson went 1-3 with a RBI, he scored a run and he had a stolen base. Joey VonWahlde went 1-6 with a RBI and he scored 2 runs, Zach Dingmann was credited with a RBI and Andy Dingmann had a sacrifice bunt.

The Gussies starting pitcher Dan Swan threw 3 innings, he gave up 7 hits, 6 runs, 2 walks and he recorded one strikeout. Luke Gregerson threw 4 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up just 2 hits, 3 runs, 4 walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Aaron Fruth threw 3 innings of relief, he was the pitcher of record. He gave up 6 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and he recorded 3 strikeouts.

LUXEMBURG BREWERS 9 WATKINS CLIPPERS 8 (5/7 @ Luxemburg)
The Brewers defeated the Clippers 9-8, backed by 14 hits and a trio of Brewer pitchers. Nick Baker started on the mound for the Brewers, he threw 4 innings, he gave up 8 hits, 6 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Austin Klaverkamp threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit, 2 runs, 3 walks and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Trevor Koenig a high school senior at St. Cloud Tech, threw the final 3 innings to earn the win. He gave up 3 hits, walked two and he recorded 2 strikeouts.

The Brewers were led by Mitch Ergen, he went 3-5 with a walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Ethyn Fruth had a big game at the plate, he went 2-4 with 2 home runs for 3 big RBI's. Player/manager Cory Wenz had a good game, he went 2-4 with a double for a RBI, he walked and he scored a run. Nick Baker went 2-3 with a pair of RBI's and Rhett Fruth went 1-3 with a double and he scored a run. Trevor Koenig went 1-3 with a RBI and Colton Fruth went 1-3 and he scored a run. Austin Klaverkamp went 1-4 with a double and J. R. Harren went 1-3. Derrick Orth earned a walk and he scored a run and Sam Iten was hit by a pitch, had a stolen base and he scored a run.

The Clippers starting pitcher Dan Berg, threw 6 innings, he gave up 11 hits, 7 runs, 1 walk and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Heath Kramer threw 2 1/3 innings in relief, he gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and he recorded 2 strikeouts, he was pitcher of record. Lincoln Haugen had a big game, he went 3-5 with a double for 2 RBI's and he scored a run. Veteran Gary Peters went 2-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run and Travis Linn went 2-4, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Kevin Kramer went 1-5 with a double for 2 RBI's and he scored 2 runs and Dan Berg went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored a run. Heath Kramer went 1-3 for a RBI, he earned a pair of walks and he scored a run. Brendan Ashton went 1-5 with a double and Adam Hiltner walked, was hit by a pitch and he scored a run.


COLD SPRING ROCKIES 3 ST. NICHOLAS NICKS 2 (11 Innings) (5/7 @ St. Nicholas)

The Nicks scored a run in the first and they put another run in the 6th; they held the led till the 9th inning. The Rockies put up two runs to tie the game and sent it into extra innings. The Rockies led off the 9th with a pair of singles by Trevor Lardy and player/manager Reese Hemmesch and Marshal Wirtzfeld bunted them both over and Kevin Wenner knocked a single to drive both runners in. The Nicks had a runner thrown out at home in the bottom of the 10th inning. The Rockies loaded the bases in the top of the 11th inning and Marshall Wirtzfeld scored on a single by veteran John Rossman. Jordan Neu started on the mound for the Rockies, he threw 7 innings. He scattered 6 hits, 3 walks, 2 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. John Rossman threw 4 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 4 hits, no walks and he recorded one strikeout. John Rossman went 2-3 with a double for a walk off RBI. Kevin Wenner went 1-5 with 2 with two big RBI's and Marshall Wirtzfeld went 2-4 and he scored the winning run. Player/manager Reese Hemmesch had good game, going 3-5 an he scored a run. Jake Hennen went 2-5 and his arm in right field, threw out the runner at the plate in the 10th inning. Trevor Lardy went 2-5 and Andrew Allar went 2-5.

Travis Hanson started on the mound for the Nicks, he threw 8 2/3 innings of shutout baseball. He did scatter 9 hits and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Jon Hofer threw one inning of relief, he was the pitcher of record, he gave up 3 hits, 1 run and he recorded a strikeout. Sam Moriarty had very good game, he went 3-4 with triple for a RBI and Derek Kuechle went 2-5 and he scored a run. Tanner Anderson went 2-5, Hunter Ahrens went 1-4 and Brett Hofer went 1-5.

RICHMOND ROYALS 11 FARMING FLAMES 5 (5/5/17 @ Farming)

The Royals defeated the Flames 11-5 in their first under the lights for the Farming team. There was about 300 hundred people in attendance for this Stearns County League game. The Royals starting pitcher Andy Bauer, went 3 innings, he gave up 5 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk and he recorded 2 strikeouts. D. J. Schleicher threw 3 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 4 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and he recorded one strikeout. Alex Budde closed it out with 3 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Scott Ruegemer led the Royals offense, he went 3-6 with a double for 2 RBI's and he scored 2 runs. Cole Schmitz went 2-5 with a double for 3 RBI's, he scored a run and he was hit by a pitch. Dan Hanson went 1-2 with a double and a sacrifice for a RBI, he walked, scored a run and he was hit by a pitch. Cory Niewind went 1-5 with a pair of RBI's, he walked and he scored a run. Dusty Adams had a sacrifice fly, was hit by a pitch and he scored a run and Kyle Budde earned 3 walks and he scored a pair of runs. Brent Ruegemer earned 3 walks, Alex Budde earned 2 walks, scored a pair of runs and he was credited with a RBI. Adam Backes was hit by a pitch, he had a stolen base and he scored 2 runs and player/manager Kirby Hemmesch earned a walk.

The Flames starting pitcher Brad Mergen threw 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 4 runs, 6 walks and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Zach Koltes threw 2 innings of relief, he was their pitcher of record. He gave up 5 runs, walked 5 and he recored 2 strikeouts. Cody Fourre threw the final 2 innings in relief, he gave up 2 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. The Flames offense was led by four players with multi hit games, led by Mitchell Thelen, he went 3-5 with 2 doubles for a RBI and he scored a run. Brad Mergen went 2-4 with a double for 2 RBI's and he was hit by a pitch. Nick Mergen went 3-4 with a double for a RBI, 1 walk and he scored a run. Craig Klein went 2-5 and he scored a run and Aaron Eiynck went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt and he earned a walk. Joel Klein went 1-4 and he scored a run and Chris Wehseler earned a walk and he was hit by a pitch. Aaron Nett had a sacrifice fly for a RBI, Dylan Panek was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. The Flames left 12 runners stranded on the bases.


ST. MARTIN MARTINS 8 ROSCOE RANGERS 5 (5/7 @ Roscoe)

The Martins defeated the Rangers with a 12 hit attack and pitching performance by a trio of pitchers. Ben Schroeder started on the mound for the Martins, he threw 3 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 1 run and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Kyle Lieser threw two innings of relief, he gave up 5 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Jayln Arceneau threw 4 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 2 hits and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Austin Arceneau had a big game at the plate, he went 3-5 with a 3 run home run. Kyle Lieser went 1-4 with a 3 runs home run, he walked and he scored a pair of runs. Michael Schlangen went 2-3 with a RBI, he was hit twice by a pitch and he had a stolen base. Taylor Holthaus went 1-3 with a double, he earned 2 walks, one stolen base and he scored one run. Jayln Arceneau went 2-5 and he scored a run and Scott Schlangen went 2-5. Tyler Ritter went 1-1, Ben Schroeder earned 2 walks and he scored a pair of runs and Bryan Schlangen walked 3 times and he had a stolen base.

The Rangers collected 11 hits and they left 10 base runners stranded, eight players collected hits. Russell Leyendecker went 2-5 with a RBI and Brandon Schleper went 2-5 with a double for a RBI. Brent Heinen went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run and Grant Thompson went 2-3 with a RBI and a sacrifice bunt. Nick Dingman went 1-4 and he scored a run and Devon Savage went 1-3 with a RBI. Nathan Stang went 1-4 and he scored a run and Brent Burg went 1-4 and he scored a run.


NEW MUNICH SILVERSTREAKS 4 LAKE HENRY LAKERS 3 (5/7 @ New Munich)

The Silverstreaks defeated Stearns county rival the Lakers, backed by the starting pitching of veteran Jim Thull. He threw 7 innings, he scattered 7 hits, 1 walk, 3 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Ty Reller earned the save with two innings of relief, he gave up a hit, one walk and he recorded a strikeout. Joe Stangler went 3-4 and he scored a run and Nick Stangler went 1-2 with a double. Grant Johnson went 1-4 with a walk and he scored a run and Jon Gaebel went 1-3 and he earned a walk. Brennan Hoppe went 1-1, Ty Reller walked and scored and Alex Hinnenkamp was credited with a RBI.

The Lakers starting pitcher Aaron Savelkoul threw 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, 4 walks, 4 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Weston Brinkman threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he recorded a strikeout. Jason Kampsen had a good game, he went 2-4 with a double for a RBI and Josh Kampsen went 1-4 with home run and he earned a walk. Grant Ludwig went 1-4 with a double and he scored a run and Ryan Wuertz went 2-4. Adam Miller went 1-4 and Sam Hopfer went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run. Shane Kampsen was hit by a pitch, Aaron Savelkoul had a sacrifice bunt and Weston Brinkman was credited with a RBI and he had a stolen base.

 

ELROSA SAINTS 4 GREENWALD CUBS 1 (5/7 @ Greenwald)

The Saints defeated the Cubs with some very good performances. Austin Hadley started on the mound for the Saints, he threw 4 innings, he gave up just 2 hits, walked 5, gave up a run and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Ethan Vogt threw 5 innings of relief, he gave up just 2 hits, 2 walks and he recorded 8 big strikeouts, to earn the win. Austin Imdieke had a good day at the plate, he went 3-4 with 2 big RBI's and James Kueffler went 1-3 with a double, scored a run and he had a stolen base. Austin Hadley went 1-5 with a stolen base and A. J. Hadley went 1-4. Roger Illies went 1-1 and he scored a run and Cody Eichers went 1-3 with 2 walks and he scored a run. Ethan Vogt earned a walk, Aaron Vogt scored a run and Matt Schmitz had a stolen base.

The Cubs had good pitcher performance from both Brandon Worms and Tyler Braegelmann. Brandon, threw 5 innings, he gave up just 3 hits, 1 run and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Tyler threw 3 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and he recorded a pair of strikeouts, he was the pitcher of record. Mitchell Worms went 1-5 and he scored a run and Ryan Kraemer went 1-3 and he walked. Doug Imdieke went 1-4 and Tyler Braegelmann went 1-3. Nick Rademacher and Brandon Worms both earned walks.


SPRING HILL CHARGERS 5 MEIRE GROVE GROVERS 4 (5/7 @ Spring Hill)

The Chargers defeated the Grovers backed by four home runs and good pitching by Austin Schoenberg. He started on the mound, he went 7 innings, he walked 3, gave up 4 runs and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Tyler Reverman threw 1 2/3 innings of relief, he waked three. Jordan Welle retired one batter by a strikeout to earned the save. Jamie Terres went 2-4 with a pair of home runs for 3 big RBIs. Austin Schoenberg went 2-2 with a home run and Erik Terres went 1-4 with a home run. Tyler Reverman and Nathan Terrres both went 1-3.

Matt Imdieke was the pitcher of record for the Grovers, he threw 5 innings, gave up 5 runs, 1 walk and he recorded a strikeout. Andrew Welle went 1-4 with a three run home run, Jordan Klaphake went 1-3 with a RBI and Colten Meyer went 1-3.


VICTORY LEAGUE SOUTH

AVON LAKERS 6 ST. STEPHEN STEVES 5 (12 Innings) (5/7 @ St. Stephen)

The Lakers and the Steves battled for 12 innings and the Lakers defeated the big rivals from the Victory League South. The Lakers had five pitchers, their starting pitcher Kyle Collins threw 3 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 1 walk, 2 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Putter Harlander threw 3 1/3 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 1 walk, one run and he recorded a strikeout. Adam Harlander retired two batters, he issued a walk and he recorded a strikeout. Jon Bauer threw one inning of relief, he issued two walks. Cody Stich earned the win, with 4 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits, one run and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Josh Becker wen 1-4 with a pair of RBI's, he earned a pair of walks and he scored a run. Zac Tomsche went 1-5 with two sacrifice bunt and a RBI and Caleb Curry went 1-6 with a double and he scored a run. Matt Meyer went 1-3 with a RBI, 3 walks and he was hit by a pitch. Cody Stich went 1-6 with a RBI and a sacrifice bunt and Carter Holthaus earned three walks. Jon Bauer had a sacrifice fly, 2 walks and he scored a run and Riley Voit went 2-6, he scored a pair of runs and he was hit by a pitch.

The Steves starting pitcher Blake Guggenberger threw 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Nick Krippner threw 3 innings of relief, he ave up 2 hits, 3 walks, 1 run and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Andy Stolt was the pitcher of record, he threw 3 innings of relief, gave up 2 hits, 3 walks, 3 runs and he recorded one strikeout. Rick Hendrickson went 2-6 with a home run and he earned a walk and Blake Guggenberger went 2-5 with a double for a RBI and he earned a walk. Austin Guggenberger went 1-4 with walk, stolen base, two runs scored and he was hit by a pitch. T. J. Bevens went 3-5 with a walk and Ton y Schmitz went 2-5 with a walk and he scored a run. Ben Berschied went 1-5 with a RBI and he earned a walk and Ben Omann with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he was hit by a pitch.


ST. WENDEL SAINTS 9 FREEPORT BLACK SOX 8 (10 Innings) (5/7 @ St. Wendell)

The Saints battled the Black Sox for 10 innings and defeated them back by 12 hits and the pitching performances of four pitchers. Taylor Erickson started on the mound, he threw 5 innings. He gave up 5 hits, 5 walks, 5 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Sam Butler threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits, 3 walks and two runs. Max Posch threw 1 2/3 innings, he gave up 3 runs and 3 walks. John Pogatchnik closed it out with 1 1/3 innings of relief, he gave up a hit and he record a strikeout to earn the win. Lee Maciej went 2-4 for two RBI's and he earned two walks. Jake Braegelman went 3-4 with a double and sacrifice fly for a RBI, he scored 3 runs and he earned one walk. John Potatchnik went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and Sam Butler went 1-4 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he earned a walk. Trevor VanHeel went 1-4 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he walked and Russ Fellbaum went 1-5 with a 2 run home run. Taylor Nitz went 1-5 with a walk, Max Posch went 1-6 and Keaton Gustin earned two walks.

The Black Sox had three players with multi hit games; led by Troy Frieler, he went 3-6 with a 5 RBI's. Brent Watercott went 3-4 with a RBI, stolen base and he scored a run. Eric Evaslage went 2-2 with 4 walks and he scored 3 runs and Johnny Benson went 1-3 and he scored a run. Seth Noll went 1-3 and Carter Sawyer went 1-5. Brandon Sawyer earned a pair of walks and he was hit by a pitch and Trevor Sawyer walked and he scored two runs. Lefty Nate Winter started on the mound for the Black Sox, he threw 4 innings. He gave up 8 hits, 3 walks, 5 runs and he recorded 1 strikeout. Tommy Benson threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 3 runs and six walks. Carter Sawyer was the pitcher of record, he threw 2 2/3 innings, he walked 3, gave up one run and he recorded two strikeouts.

 

UPSALA BLUE JAYS 7 OPOLE BEARS 1 (5/7 @ Opole)

THe Blues Jays defeated the Bears, backed by good pitching performances by their starting pitcher Matt Swanson. Matt threw 5 innings, he gave up just 1hit, walked two and he recorded 8 strikeouts. John Fuchs threw 3 innings, he gave up 3 hits, 3 walks, 1 run and he recorded a strikeout. Eric Lampert threw one inning of relief, he walked one and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Matt Swenson led the offense as well, he went 2-3 with a 3 run home run and a big 5 RBI's. Adam Gerads went 2-4 with 2 RBI's and he earned a walk. Justin Lampert went 1-3 with a double, he walked and scored 2 runs. Brady Burggraff went 1-4 and he was hit by a pitch Dustin Biniek went 1-4, he walked and he scored a run. Paul Krebs went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt, he walked and scored a run. Eric Lampert went 1-3, Jon Fuchs went 1-1 and Derek Biniek had a stolen base.

The Bears were led by Derek Thielen, he went 1-3 with a double and he earned a walk. Austin Gerads went 1-3 with a RBI and he earned a walk, Brad Heitzman went 1-2 and Austin Lange went 1-2 and he scored a run. Derek Thielen was their relief pitcher and he took the loss. SAUK VALLEY LEAGUE

CLEAR LAKE LAKERS 3 BECKER BANDITS 0 (5/7 @ Becker)

The Lakers defeated the Bandits in their first Sauk Valley League game of the season. The Lakers collected 11 hits and they had good pitching performances by veteran lefty Mike Smith and Ryan Paasch. Mike threw 5 innings, he gave up just 2 hits, 1 walk and he recorded seven strikeouts, to earn the win. Ryan threw 4 innings to earn the save, he gave up 4 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Matt Korte had a good game at the plate, he went 3-5 and he scored a run. Hunter Mutterer went 1-3 with a double, he earned a pair of walks and he scored a run. Brandon Buesgens went 1-5 with a double for a RBI and Mitch Vogt went 2-5. Tyler Maurer went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Izzy Carper went 2-4. Noah Vogt went 1-3 with a stolen base and he scored 1 run. Cory Schmidt had a pair of stolen bases, Ryan Skymanski earned a walk and he was credited with a RBI and Richard Thompson earned a walk.

The Bandits starting pitcher Kreeden Blomquist threw just one inning, he gave up a hit. Jon Crowley threw 7 innings of relief, he gave up 9 hits, 3 runs, 5 walks and he recorded 2 strikeouts, he was the pitcher of record. Dawson Hill threw 1 inning, he gave up 1 hit and he recorded a pair of strikeouts. The Bandits Andrew Kolbinger went 2-4 and Noah Mohs went 1-3. Kreeden Blomquist went 1-5, Kevin Krenz went 1-4, Dawson Hill went 1-4 and Hayden Fassler earned three walks.


EXHIBITION GAMES

ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 14 SARTELL STONE PONEYS 3 (5/3/17 @ Sartell)

The Gussies defeated the Stone Poneys of the Sauk Valley League backed by the hitting of Adam Gwost, he went 3-6 with 2 doubles and he scored a run. Zach Laudenbach went 2-4 and he earned a pair of walks. Dustin Schutzenburg went 3-5 with a walk and he scored three runs. Marcus Lommel went 1-3 with a double, he walked twice and he scored a run. There was no pitching stats shared for the Gussies.

The Stone Poneys had five different pitchers earned threw 2 to 3 innings each. The pitcher of record was Nate Nierenhausen. Player/manager Jeff Amann had very good game, he went 4-5 and he scored a run. Teddy Fleming went 2-5 and Shawn Lindsay went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored a run. Brandon Reinking went 1-3 and Patrick Dolan went 1-4. Sean Tillman earned a walk and he scored a run and Matt Maurer earned a pair of walks.

 

 

 

LUXEMBURG BREWERS 3 CLEAR LAKE LAKERS 1 (5/3/17 @ Luxemburg)

The Brewers of the Central Valley League defeated the Lakers of the Sauk Valley League in a tight one 3-1, in a 7 inning game. The Brewers pitchers combined to throw a 5 hitter, lefty Austin Klaverkamp started on the mound, he threw 4 innings. He gave up 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and he recorded 4 strike outs. Nick Baker threw two innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 1 hit and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Casey Underwood closed it out with one inning of relief to earn the save, he gave up 1 hit and he recorded one strikeout. The Brewers Sam Iten led the offense, he went 3-4 and he scored a run. Derrick Orth went 1-2 with a double for a RBI and player/manager Cory Wenz went 1-1 with a double. Casey Underwood went 1-1 with a RBI and Austin Klaverkamp earned a walk and he scored a run. Luke Harren walked and he had a stolen base, Colton Fruth, Rhett Fruth, Chris Knauss and Mitch Ergen all earned walks.

The Lakers also had some good pitching performances, Cory Schmidt started on the mound. He threw 2 innings, gave up just 1 hit, 1 walk and he recorded a strikeout. Ryan Paasch threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and he recorded a pair of strikeouts. Mike Golombiecki was the pitcher of record for the Lakers, he threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and he recorded 2 strikeouts. The Lakers were led by Cory Schmidt on offense as he went 2-3 and Mitch Voigt went 1-2. Matt Korte went 1-2 with a walk and he scored a run. Jordan Golombiecki went 1-2, Tyler Carper earned a walk and Brandon Buesgens earned a walk.
