CENTRAL MINNESOTA TOWN BALL REPORT

LOCAL BASEBALL ROUNDUP

Back for a fourth season at KNSI with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. Including not only game summaries, but upcoming schedules, league standings. Tournament summaries and an occasional special interest feature. The plan is to continue to include: Lakewood League, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South and Stearns County teams throughout their league playoffs, regional and state tourney games. Check out the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Web site for additional information. Note: League Playoffs in the Victory League are in their second weekend. Sauk Valley will be starting their first round of playoffs this week. Keep checking the state web site for details. I will plan to do games summaries for the Regions: 1C, 11C, 15C and Region 2B. All brackets are now posted on the state web site.

LAKEWOOD LEAGUE/ 2B REGIONAL GAMES

COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 10 HIBBING MINERS 0 (8/4 @ Cold Spring)

The Springers defeated their Region 2B foe the Miners, backed by 12 hits, including a triple and three back to back doubles and play errorless defense on the night. They had a very good pitching performances by Justin Thompson and Ben Etzel, as they combined for a 2 hitter. Justin threw 5 innings to earn the win, he gave up just 1 hit, issued one walk and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Ben threw 2 innings in relief, he gave up one hit, issued one walk and he recorded a strikeout. The Springers got hits from ten different ball players, Jeron Terres had a big night, he went 2-3 with a triple and a double for a RBI and he scored 2 runs. Brian Hansen went 1-3 with a double for 2 RBI's and he scored 3 runs and Eric Loxtercamp went 1-5 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Alex Jungels went 1-3 with 2 RBI's and he scored a run and Zac Femrite went 1-3 with 2 RBI's. Zach Hinkemeyer went 1-3 with a RBI, he earned a pair of walks and he scored a run. Joe Dempsey went 1-4 with a RBI and Ryan Holthaus went 1-4 and he earned a walk. Tyler Geislinger and Will Huls both went 1-1, Drew VanLoy earned a pair of walks and he scored 2 runs and Max Fuchs earned a walk. The Miners, Andy Kolden started on the mound, he threw 3 innings, he gave up 6 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered 7 runs. Kyle Durban threw 3 innings in relief, he gave up 6 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded a strikeout. Joe Lescarbeau went 1-3 and Matt Erickson went 1-1. Both Pat Shea and Trevor Benrsdorf earned walks.

 

SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES 9 BRAINERD BEES 5 (11 In.) (8/4 @ Sauk Rapids)

The Cylcones defeated Lakewood League and regional rival the Bees, backed by 14 hits and good pitching performances by a pair of right handers. David Kroger started on the mound for the Cyclones, he threw 7 innings, he scattered 5 hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered 2 runs and he recorded 11 strikeouts. The veteran 6'9" Jeff Hille threw 4 innings in relief to earn the win, he gave up 5 hits, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Mitch Loegering had a good game, he went 2-4 with a double for 2 RBI' and he earned a walk. Greg "Boomer" Bemboom went 2-6 with 2 RBI's and Mathew Meyer went 2-5 with a double, he earned a walk and he scored 2 runs. Veteran Scotty Lochner had a very good game, he went 3-3 with a RBI and he scored a run and Bo Schmitz, back from the Northwoods League went 2-4, he earned a walk, he was hit by a pitch, had a stolen base and he scored a run. Player/manager, Paul Schlangen went 1-5, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Co-player/manager Tom Wippler earned a walk, was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. David Kroger went 1-5 with a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run, Jeff Hille was credited with a RBI and he scored a run and Tyler Bjork went 1-1.

The Bees, Brian Voit started on the mound, he threw 9 innings, he gave up 12 hits, issued 2 walks, surrendered 5 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Hanson Devine, threw one inning in relief, he gave up 2 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks and he recorded 1 strikeout. Brain Voit had a good game, he went 3-5 with a double, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run and Hanson DeVine went 3-6 with 2 RBI's and he scored a run. Eric Martin went 1-5 with a RBI and Ben Jones went 1-4 with a double and he scored a run. Joel Martin went 1-6, Renzen Caughey went 1-5 and Bryce Flanagen earned a walk, was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Blake Peterson was credited with a RBI, Kevin Peterson was hit by a pitch and he scored a run and Tim Martin earned a walk.


BEAUDREAUS SAINTS 13 MARSHALL "A" 4 (8/5 @ Sauk Rapids)

The Saints defeated their regional rival the "A" backed by 13 hits and good pitching performances by veteran right hander Brad Haag and Chris Koenig. Brad started, he threw 5 innings to earn the win, he gave up 4 hits, issued 4 walks, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Chris Koenig threw 4 innings in relief, he gave up 2 hits, 2 run and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Steve Neutzling had a great game, he went 4-5 with 2 doubles and a sacrifice fly for 7 big RBI's and he scored a run. Jack Schramel went 2-5 with a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored 2 runs and Nick Maiers went 1-4 with a double for a RBI, he earned a pair of walks and he scored a run. Ryan Schneider went 1-2 with 2 RBI's, he earned 3 walks and he scored a run and Dominic Austing went 2-5 and he scored 3 runs. Brian Minks went 1-4, he earned a walk, scored 4 runs and he was hit by a pitch, Jason Kotschevar went 1-3 and he earned 2 walks and Brindley Theisen went 1-1 with a RBI.

The "A" Justin Mettling started on the mound, he threw 2 innings, he gave up 4 runs and 3 walks and Jake Leighton went 4 innings in relief, he gave up 8 hits, 6 walks, 7 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Derek Brandon threw 1 inning in relief, he recorded 2 strikeouts and Travis McGlauflin threw an inning in relief and he recorded a strikeout. Mason Penske went 2-3 with 2 RBI's, he earned a walk and he scored 2 runs. Derek Branson went 1-2 with a RBI and he earned a pair of walks and Jon Ellis went 1-4 for a RBI. Nate Hoeft went 1-3, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run, Travis McGlauflin went 1-4 and Jordon Kontz was hit by a pitch.

 


HIBBING MINERS 2 BRAINERD BEES 1 (8/5 @ Sauk Rapids)

The Miners defeated the Bees in a pitching dual, Matt Erickson and Jamie Steinberg combined to threw a 6 hitter. Matt started on the mound, he threw 7 innings, scattered 4 hits, gave up a run and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Jamie Steinberg earned the save with 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Matt Erickson had a good game, he went 2-3 with a double, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Kyle Durban went 1-3 with a RBI and Dan Pellinen went 1-4. Joe Lescarbeau earned a walk and he scored a run, Pat Shea earned a walk and Louis Gerzin earned a walk.

The Bees, Blake Peterson, started on the mound, he threw a complete game, he gave up just 4 hits, issued 4 walks, surrendered 2 runs and he recorded 11 strikeouts. Brain Voigt went 2-4 and player/manger Tim Martin went 2-4. Blake Peterson went 1-4, Ben Jones went 1-3 and Kevin Peterson earned a walk and he was credited with a RBI. Joel Martin earned a walk and he scored their lone run and Hanson DeVine earned a walk.

 

MOORHEAD BREWERS 5 SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES 1 (8/6 @ Sauk Rapids)

The Brewers defeated the Cyclones, backed by 8 hits and a good pitching performance by Kyle Kingsley. He threw a complete game, he scattered 7 hits, issued one walk, surrendered one run and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Mike Peschel had a good game, he went 2-3 with 2 RBI's and he was hit by a pitch. Kory Wolden went 3-4 with a RBI and Kaleb Binstock went 1-4 with a double for a RBI and he had a stolen base. Landon Uetz went 1-2 with a RBI, he earned a pair of walks, he had a stolen base and he scored a pair of runs. Tanner Adam went 1-3, he earned a walk and he scored 2 runs, Matt Oye earned a pair of walks, Derek Dormanen earned a walk and he scored a run, Chris Coste earned a walk and Spencer Flaten had a stolen base.

The Cylcones, Lucas Bentrud started on the mound, he threw 3 innings, he gave up 4 hits, issued 5 walks, 5 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Mitch Friehammer threw 3 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up 3 hits, issued 2 walks and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Jeff Hille threw 1 1/3 innings in relief, he gave up a hit. Tyler Bjork went 2-4 with a double and Bo Schmitz went 1-4 with a double. Player/manager, Paul Schlangen went 1-4 and he had a great game in center field. The Springers defeated their Lakewood League rivals the Saints, backed by 8 timely hits and a good pitching performance by veteran right hander Zach Femrite. Zach started on the mound, he threw a complete game, scattering 5 hits, issued 3 walks and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Eric Loxtercamp covered a lot of ground in center field and he went 2-5 with a double for 4 big RBI's and he scored a run. Brian Hansen went 2-4 with a RBI, he earned a walk and he had a stolen base. Ryan Holthaus went 1-2 with a shot nearly off the left center field fence for a double for a RBI, he earned 2 walks and he scored 2 runs. Zach Hinkemeyer went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for 2 RBI's and he scored a run, he did flashed a little leather at shortstop, with some nice plays. Alex Jungels went 1-2 with a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Drew VanLoy went 1-4 and he earned a walk. Jeron Terres was credited with a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored 2 runs, Garrett Fuchs earned a walk and he scored a run and Tyler Geislinger earned a walk and he scored a run. This was a big win for the Springers, as they did split with the Saints during the regular season, it was also a state qualifying game.

The Saints, lefty Nick Maiers started on the mound, he threw 4 1/3 innings, he gave up 5 hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered 6 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Tommy Auger threw 2 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up 3 hits, issued 4 walks, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts and Brindley Theisen threw the last inning in relief. Jack Schramel went 2-4 and he earned a walk and Steve Neutzling went 2-4 to lead the Saints. Ryan Schneider went 1-4, Tommy Auger and Brindley Theisen both earned walks, Brian Minks, Nick Maiers and Jason Kotschevar were all hit by a pitch.

The Gussies of the Central Valley League defeated their Corn Belt League foe the Bullfrogs, backed by the good pitching performance by their right hander, Travis Laudenbach. He threw a complete game, scattered 7 hits, issued 1 walk, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Six different Gussies collected hits, Brady Grafft went 1-3 with a RBI and he earned a walk and Matt Skaja went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored a run. Adam Gwost went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Player/Manager, Dustin Schultzenburg was credited with a RBI by way of a fielders choice and he earned a walk. Mitchell Gwost went 1-4 and he scored a run and Nate Laudenbach went 1-3 and he earned a walk. Marcus Lommel went 1-4 and he scored a run, Nate Gwost earned a pair of walks and Aaron Fruth scored a run.

The Bullfrogs, Logan Sandgren started on the mound, he threw 4 1/3 innings, he gave up 5 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Eric Gass threw 3 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up a hit, issued a pair of walks and he recorded a strikeout. Shawn Dollerschell went 1-4 with 2 RBI's and Lane Stadther went 1-5 with a stolen base and he scored a run. Riley Kramer went 2-4 and Austin Weis went 1-4 with a stolen base and he scored a run. The Saints of the Corn Belt League defeated their Central Valley League foe the Hawks, backed by 9 hits and by veteran right hander Jeremy Hinderks pitching performance. Jeremy threw a complete game, he scattered 4 hits, issued 2 walks, surrendered one run and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Trent Novotny had a good game, he went 1-4 with a double for 2 RBI's and Nate Hebrink went 1-3 with 2 RBI's and he scored a run. Mike Kuschel went 1-3 with a RBI and Jeremy Hinderks went 2-4 and he scored a run. Jack Dykema went 2-3, Dakota Freiborg went 1-4, Mike Johnson went 1-3 and Jarrod Holmgren scored a run.

The Hawks, Tanner Olean started on the mound, he threw a complete game, he scattered 9 hits, surrendered 5 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Tanner went 1-4 with a RBI and Alex Geislinger went 2-4. David Pennertz went 1-4, Matt Lies earned a walk, Matthew Pennertz had a sacrifice bunt and Matt Unterberger had a sacrifice bunt.

 

KIMBALL EXPRESS 6 MILROY YANKEES 3 (8/5 @ GF)

The Express of the Central Valley League defeated the No. 2 seed from the Corn Belt the Yankees, to earn their trip to the state tournament. The Express were backed by 8 hits and good pitching performances by Zach Dingmann and Jordan Joseph. Zach started on the mound, he threw 6 innings, he scattered 8 hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 4 strikeouts to earn the win. Jordan threw 3 innings in relief to earn the save, he gave up no hits, issued 2 walks and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Scott Marquardt went 1-4 with 2 RBI's and Kyle Winter went 1-4 with 2 RBI's and he scored a run. Ben Johnson went 1-4 with a double and he scored 2 runs and Adam Beyer went 1-4 and he scored a run. Brooks Marquardt went 1-3, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Brian Marquardt went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt. Adam Beyer went 1-4 and he scored a run, Jordan Joseph went 1-4, Austin Ruehle went 1-5 and Joey VonWahlde went 1-1 with a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run.

Austin Deutz threw 2 1/3 innings in relief, he gave up a hit, one run and he recorded 3 strikeouts. The Brewers defeated their Central Valley League rivals the Nicks, backed by 11 hits and a pair of good pitching performances. Lefty Travis Koenig started on the mound, he threw 5 innings to earn the win, he gave up just 2 hits, surrendered one run and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Mitch Ergen threw 4 innings in relief, he gave up 2 hits and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Logan Aleshire had a good game, he had a home run and a double for 3 big RBI's and he scored 3 runs. Sam Iten had a good game, he went 2-5 with a double for 2 RBI's and he scored a run. Austin Klaverkamp went 1-3 with a double for a RBI, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Luke Harren went 1-5 with a RBI, Chase Aleshire went 1-4, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Isaac Matchinsky went 1-4 and he scored a run. Colten Fruth was credited with a RBI and he scored a run and Casey Underwood went 1-1.

The Nicks, Travis Hanson was the pitcher of record. Jeff Lutgen went 2-4 and Jon Hofer went 1-4, with a stolen base and he scored a run. Player/manager Robert Lutgen went 1-3 and Hunter Ahrens went 1-4.


COLD SPRING ROCKIES 5 GRANITE FALLS KILLOWATS 4 (14 In) (8/5 @ GF)

The Rockies of the Central Valley League defeated their Corn League foe the KILLOWATS in a marathon game of 14 innings. The Rockies scored in the bottom of the 14th, after loading the bases, Kevin Wenner scored the winning road on a walk off sacrifice fly by Nick Skluzacek. The Rockies did collect 16 hits, including a pair of doubles, they did leave several base runners stranded. The young right hander, Eli Backes started on the mound, he threw 9 innings, no walks, he surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Trevor Lardy threw 6 innings in relief to earn the win, he scattered 4 hits, issued no walks and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Calvin Kalthoff went 2-7 with a sacrifice fly for 3 big RBI's and Austin Dufner went 3-7 and he scored a run. Marshall Wirtzfeld had a good game, he went 2-4 with a double, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Jordan Neu went 3-6 and he scored 2 runs and Kevin Wenner went 2-7 with a double and he scored 2 runs. Nick Skluzacek went 1-4 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he earned a walk, Jake Hennen went 1-4, Andrew Allar went 1-1 and Patrick Hemingson was credited with a RBI and he scored a run.

The KILLOWATS, Adam Brewer started on the mound, he threw a complete game, he gave up 16 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered 5 runs and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Craig Listul went 4-7 with a home run for 2 RBI's and Jordan Odegard went 3-7 with a RBI and he scored 2 runs. Tyler Daman went 2-7 with a RBI and Derek Drydahl went 2-6. Brandon Grund went 1-6 and he scored 2 runs and Dylan Linstrom went 1-5.

 


WATKINS CLIPPERS 1 RAYMOND ROCKETS 0 (8/6 @ GF)

The Clippers of the Central Valley League defeated their rivals from the Corn Belt League the Rockets. Player/manager, lefty Matt Geislinger threw a complete game, he scattered 3 hits, issued one walk and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Gary Peters went 1-3 with the only RBI in the game in the 5th inning, when Reese Jansen scored as a pinch runner for the catcher. Dan Berg went 1-3 and he earned a walk, Brendan Ashton went 1-3, Lincoln Haugen went 1-4 and both Dan Sargent and Tyler Hebrink earned walks. This big win qualifies the Clippers for the state tournament.

The Rockets, lefty Alex Lotthammer started on the mound, he threw 7 innings, he gave up just 3 hits, issued 3 walks, one run and he recorded 11 strikeouts. Cole Christenson threw one inning in relief, he gave up one hit. Brett Swanson went 2-3, Justin Koenen went 1-4 and Cal Kosmanskes earned a walk.


ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 12 SACRED HEART SAINTS 3 (8/6 @ GF)

The Gussies of the Central Valley League defeated their foe from the Corn Belt League the Saints, backed by 15 hits, with all nine starters collecting hits. The Gussies, veteran lefty Zack Laudenbach started on the mound, he threw 7 innings to earn the win. He scattered 5 hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Dan Swan threw two innings in relief, to close it out for the Gussies. Mitch Gwost had a great game, he went 4-4 with 3 RBI's, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Adam Gwost had a good day, he went 2-5 with a double for a RBI and he scored 2 runs. Player/manager Dusty Schulzetburg went 1-4 with 2 RBI's, he earned a walk and he scored 2 runs. Marcus Lommel went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and Matt Skaja had a productive day at the plate, he went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI, he had a sacrifice fly, he earned a walk and he scored 2 runs and Brady Grafft went 2-5 with a RBI. Nate Gwost went 1-4 with a sacrifice bunt, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run, Luke Richardson went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he scored 2 runs and Nate Laudenbach went 1-4, he earned a walk and he scored a run.

The Saints, Ryan Fransen started on the mound, he threw 3 1/3 innings, he gave up 6 hits, issued 2 walks and he surrendered 5 runs. Connor Cronin threw 2/3 of a inning, he gave up 4 hits, 2 walks, 5 runs and he recorded a strikeout. The Rockies defeated their Central Valley League rivals, backed by 8 very timely hits and a good pitching effort by lefty Jake Brinker. Jake started on the mound, he threw 7 1/3 innings, he scattered 4 hits, he issued 4 walks, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Brandon Gill threw 1 2/3 innings in relief to earn the win, he gave up 3 hits, 3 walks and 2 runs. They won in walk of fashion once again, with Kevin Wenner scoring the winning run on a very close play on a sacrifice fly by Calvin Kalthoff. Jordan Neu had a good night, he went 2-4 with a double for a RBI, he had a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run. Calvin Kalthoff went 2-4 with a double and a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he earned a walk. Austin Dufner went 2-5 with a double for a RBI and he earned a walk and Nick Skluzacek went 1-3 with 2 RBI's. Marshal Wirtzfeld went 1-3 with a double, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Kevin Wenner went 1-5 and he scored the winning run. Jake Hennen went 1-4 and he scored a run and Patrick Hemingson was credited with a RBI and he scored a run.

The Brewers, Austin Klaverkamp started on the mound, he threw 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered 5 runs and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Logan Aleshire threw 1 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up a hit, issued one walk and he gave up a run. Derrik Orth went 1-4 with a 2 run home run, that tied the score in the top of 9th and Sam Iten went 2-5 and he earned a walk. Ethan Fruth went 1-3 with a RBI, he earned 2 walks and he scored 2 runs and Colton Fruth went 2-5. Veteran right hander, Ethan Vogt started on the mound, he threw a complete game to earn the win. Ethan gave up 4 hits, he issued 4 walks, surrendered 2 runs and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Branden Worms, a draftee from the Greenwald Cubs threw 6 1/3 innings in relief, he gave up just 3 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered one run and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Nick Stangler went 1-2 and he earned 2 walks and Joe Stangler went 1-3 and he was hit by a pitch. Jacob Hinnenkamp went 1-4, Jon Gaebel went 1-3 and Will Funk earned a walk. Neal Anderson earned a walk and he was hit by a pitch and Hunter Rademacher went 1-4.

The Royals win over their County Line League foe the Twins, backed by 10 hits and a good pitching performances by Luke Jokela and D. J. Schleicher. The Royals, lefty, Luke started on the mound, he threw 7 innings to earn the win. He scattered 6 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. D. J. Schleicher threw 2 innings in relief to earn the save, he gave up 4 hits and he recorded a strikeout. Adam Backes led the way, he went 3-5 with 2 doubles for a RBI and he scored 2 runs. Cole Schmitz went 1-5 with a double for a RBI and Scott Ruegemer went 1-4 with a RBI and he earned a walk. Dusty Adams went 1-5 with 2 big RBI's and Alex Budde went 2-4 with a double, he earned a walk and he scored 2 runs. Kyle Budde went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt, Corey Niewind went 1-4 and he scored a run and Dan Hansen earned a walk.

The Twins, Adam Nibaur started on the mound, he threw 4 1/3 innings, he gave up 6 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Michael Gruber threw 4 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up 4 hits, surrendered a run and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Mike Danielson went 2-5 with a home run for 2 RBI's and Scott Rambow went 1-3 with a RBI and he earned a walk. Ben Kulset went 2-4, he earned a walk and he scored 2 runs and Jake Rambow went 2-5. Josh Soine went 1-3 and he earned a walk, Austin Rambow went 1-4 and John Perkins went 1-4.

SOBIESKI SKIS 4 ST. STEPHEN STEVES 1 (8/5 @ Avon)

The Skis defeated their Victory League rivals the Steves, backed by good pithing performance by Tyler Jendro. He threw a complete game, he scattered 9 hits, issued no walks, he surrendered one run and he recorded 11 strikeouts. Tyler Jendro went 1-4 with 2 big RBI's and Dan Marod had a sacrifice fly and he was credited with 2 big RBI's. Scott Litchy went 2-3, he earned 3 walks, had a stolen base and he scored a run. Joey Hanowski went 1-2 with a sacrifice bunt, he was hit by a pitch, he had a stolen base and he scored a run. Tom Miller went 2-4 with a double, Riley Hirsch earned a walk and he scored 2 runs and Collin Eckman earned a walk and he was hit by a pitch.

The Steves, veteran lefty, Nick Krippner threw a complete game, he gave up 6 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Blake Guggenberger went 2-5 with a double and he scored a run and Mr. Consistant, Rick Hendrickson went 2-4 with a sacrifice bunt. Player/manager Ben Omann went 1-3 with a double and a sacrifice bunt and Ben Bierscheid went 2-4. Cody Wolhart went 1-4, Tony Schmitz went 1-4, T. J. Bevens was credited with a RBI and Brandon Waldvogel had a sacrifice bunt.


BUCKMAN BILLYGOATS 6 AVON LAKERS 3 (8/5 @ Avon)

The Billygoats defeated their Victory League rivals the Lakers, backed by 8 hits and a good pitching performance by Jeremy Monson. The big right hander threw a complete game, he scattered 8 hits, issued one walk, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Aaron Weber went 2-4 with 2 doubles for a RBI and Joe Kahl went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt for a RBI and he scored a run. Ben Boser went 2-4 with a double, he earned a walk and he scored a run, after playing in the regional D2 Legion Tournament, in witch they earned the championship. Zach Lanners went 1-4, he was it by a pitch and he scored a run and Shawn Lanners went 1-4. Peter Suska went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt an he scored a run, Mark Kahl had a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Andrew Rueckert earned a walk and he scored a run.

The Lakers, Will Kleinschmidt started on the mound, he threw 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, issued one walk, surrendered 5 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Jon Bauer threw 3 innings in relief, he gave up one hit, issued one walk, surrendered one run and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Matt Meyer went 2-4 with a RBI and he scored a run and Riley Voit went 4-4 and he scored a run. Will Kleinschmidt went 1-4 with a RBI, Caleb Curry went 1-4 with a double and he scored a run and Carter Holthaus earned a walk.
