CENTRAL MINNESOTA TOWN BALL REPORT

LOCAL BASEBALL ROUNDUP

Back for a fourth season at KNSI (99.9 FM/103.3 FM/1450 AM) with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. Including not only game summaries, but upcoming schedules, league standings. Tournament summaries and an occasional special interest feature. The plan is to continue to include: Lakewood League, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South and Stearns County teams throughout their league playoffs, regional and state tourney games. LAKEWOOD LEAGUE/REGIONAL GAMES

SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES 4 BEAUDREAUS SAINTS 1 (7/26 @ Putz)

The Cyclones and the Saints were in a pitching battle till the bottom of the third, when the Saints got a couple of singles by Waylon Bemboom and Tom Spaniol and a double by Nick Maiers break up a scoreless game. It wasn't till the top of the 7th inning when the Cyclones answered with a couple of unearned runs due to an error and a couple of wild pitches. With the score at 2-1 in the top of the 8th, the Cyclones put up 2 more runs. A single by Mitch Loegering and an error to allow Mathew Meyer to get on base and another wild pitch. This set up a thunderous blow by veteran Scotty Lochner, he hit a double off the center field wall nearly 400' away, to give the Cyclones a 4-1 lead. The Saints left two base runners stranded in the bottom of the 9th inning. This gives the Cyclones a split with the Saints in league play. The Cyclones, David Kroger, started on the mound, he threw 7 2/3 innings to earn the win. He scattered 7 hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Jeff Hille entered the game with bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th, with 2 outs and he recorded a strikeout. He threw 1 1/3 innings, he gave up a hit, issued one walk and he recorded 3 strikeouts to earn the save. Scott Lochner went 1-4 with a double for 2 RBI's and he scored a run and Mitch Loegering went 1-4 and he scored a run. Tom Wippler went 2-4 and David Kroger went 1-3 with a stolen base, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Greg "Boomer" Bemboom went 1-4 and he played a very good game at shortstop. Adam Wippler went 1-3 and he earned a walk, Zach Fuecker earned a walk, Tyler Bjork earned a walk and Mathew Meyer scored a run. The Cyclones played errorless ball, including a pair of nice catches in the outfield by Tyler Bjork and Zach Fuecker.

The Saints, lefty Nick Maiers started on the mound, he threw 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Justin Mohs threw the final inning in relief, he issued a walk. The Saints also with the exception of a couple miscues, played very good defense. Nick Maiers had a good game at the plate, he went 2-4 with a double for a RBI. Tommy Auger had a good night, he went 2-5 and Brian Minks went 1-4 with a double. Waylon Bemboom went 1-4 and he scored their lone run and Ryan Schneider went 1-3 and he earned a walk. Tom Spaniol went 1-3 and he earned a walk and Steve Neutzling earned a walk.

COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 11 BRAINERD BEES 7 (7/29 @ Brainerd)

The Springers had a big first inning to help give them a win over Lakewood League and regional rivals the Bees. The Springers put up 7 runs with 7 hits, 6 consecutive hits, including a pair of doubles in their first inning. The Springers, Justin Thompson started on the mound, he threw 3 innings, he gave up 6 hits, 1 walk, he surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Chris Butala threw 5 innings in relief, he scattered 6 hits, issued 1 walk, surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Mathias Butala threw 1 inning in relief, he recorded a strikeout, he faced just 3 batters. The Springers were led by Alex Jungels, he went 3-3 with 2 doubles for 2 RBI's and he scored 2 runs. Eric Loxtercamp had a very good game at his leadoff spot, he went 3-3 with 2 doubles for 3 RBI's and he scored 2 runs. Drew VanLoy went 2-3 with a RBI and he scored a run and Zach Hinkemeyer went 1-3 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Joe Dempsey went 1-5 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run and Brian Hansen went 2-3 with a double and he scored 2 runs. Garrett Fuchs went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run and Zach Femrite went 1-3 with a RBI. Jeron Terres went 1-2, Max Fuchs went 1-2 and Tanner Aleshire went 1-2.

The Bees, Hanson Devine started on the mound, he threw 2 innings, he gave up 10 hits and he surrendered 8 runs. Brian Voigt threw 7 innings in relief, he gave up 7 hits, 3 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Kevin Peterson had a good game, he went 2-5 with a double for 2 RBI's and he scored a run and Cody Derosier went 2-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Brian Voigt went 3-5 with a double and he scored 2 runs and Blake Peterson went 2-5 with a double and he scored 2 runs. Renzen Caughey went 1-4 and he earned a walk and Joel Martin went 1-5. Troy Lenz was credited with a RBI, Hanson Devine went 1-5 and he scored a run and Eric Martin earned a walk.

St. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 11 GRANITE FALLS KILOWATTS 1 (7/29 @ GF)

The Gussies of the Central Valley League defeated their Corn Belt League foe the Kilowatts backed by 11 hits, including 6 extra base hits. Travis Laudenbach started on the mound for the Gussies, he threw a complete game to earn the win. He scattered 5 hits, issued 2 walks, surrendered one run and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Adam Gwost had a great day at the plate, he went 3-4 with a home run and a double for 3 RBI's and he scored 2 runs. Player/manager Dusty Schultzenburg went 1-4 with a double for 2 RBI's, he was hit by a pitch and he scored 2 runs. Mitch Gwost had a good day, he went 3-4 for a RBI and he scored 2 runs and Brady Grafft went 1-3 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Zach Laudenbach went 1-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run and Luke Richardson went 1-3 with a double, a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run. Marcus Lommel went 1-4 with 2 RBI's and he scored a run and Matt Skaja was credited with a RBI and he scored a run.

The Kilowatts, Jordan Thompson started on the mound, he threw a complete game, he gave up 11 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered 11 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Craig Listul had a good game, he went 2-4 with a home run and Austin Vikander went 2-4 with 2 doubles. Derek Drydahl went 1-3, Adam Brewers had a sacrifice bunt, Dylan Lindstrom and Brandon Grunde was both hit by a pitch.


SACRED HEART SAINTS 4 PEARL LAKE LAKERS 2 (7/29 @ GF)

The Saints of he Corn Belt League, defeated their Central Valley League foe the Lakers, backed by Jeremy Hinderks big 3 run home run and his pitching performance. Jeremy started on the mound, he threw 8 innings to earn the win, he scattered 7 hits, surrendered one run and he recorded one strikeout. Connor Cronin threw 1 inning in relief to earn the save, he gave up a hit, one run and he recorded one strikeout. Jeremy Hinderks went 2-4 with a home run for 3 RBI's and Dakota Freiborg went 1-3 with a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Nate Hebrink went 1-3 and he earned a walk and Ryan Hebrink earned a pair of walks. Mike Johnson had a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run and Trent Novotny earned a walk.

The Lakers, Mitch Wienke started on the mound, he threw a complete game, he gave up just 4 hits, issued 5 walks, surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Ryan Wieneke had a good game, he went 3-4 and he scored 2 runs and Steve Krippner went 2-4 with a double. Chad Kunkel went 1-4 with a RBI, Tommy Linn went 1-4 and Justin Kunkel went 1-4.


MILROY YANKEES 18 ST. NICHOLAS NICKS 2 (7/29 @ Milroy)

The Yankees of the Corn Belt League defeated their Central Valley League foe the Nicks, backed by 19 hits and a good pitching performance by Nathan Deutz. Nathan started on the mound, he threw 5 innings to earn the win. He gave up just 3 hits and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Aaron Mathiowetz threw 2 innings in relief, he gave up 4 hits, 1 walk, 2 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Matt Bauer went 1-5 with a grand slam for 4 big RBI's and Austin Kretsch went 3-3 with a double for 2 RBI's, he earned a walk and he scored 3 runs. Dylan Criquet-Danielson went 3-4 for 2 RBI's and he scored 3 runs and Aaron Mathiowetz went 3-5 with a RBI and he scored a run. Noah Schaefler went 4-5 and he scored a run and Darrick Allpress went 2-4 with a RBI and he scored 3 runs. The Brewers defeated their Central Valley League rivals the Hawks, backed by 10 hits and good pitching performances by J. T. Harren and Mitch Ergen. J. T started on the mound, he threw 7 innings to earn the win. He gave up just 3 hits, issued 4 walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Mitch Ergen threw the final 2 innings in relief, he gave up a hit. Isaac Matchinsky had a good game, he went 2-3 with a double for 2 RBI's, he earned a walk, a stolen base and he scored a run. Chase Aleshire had a good day, he went 3-4 with a sacrifice fly for 3 RBI's, he had a stolen base and he scored a run. Luke Harren went 2-3 with a double, he earned 2 walks, 2 stolen bases and he scored 3 runs. Austin Klaverkamp went 1-4 with a double for 2 RBI's and Sam Iten wen 1-4 with a stolen base, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Colton Fruth went 1-4 with a stolen base, Derrick Orth earned a walk and he scored a run, and Ethyn Fruth earned a walk and he scored a run.

The Hawks Stephen Pennertz was the pitcher of record. Zach Schlangen went 2-3 with a RBI and Austin Schlangen went 1-4 with a RBI. Tanner Olean went 1-4 and he scored a run and Stephen Pennertz earned 2 walks. David Pennertz earned a walk, he was hit by a pitch, a stolen base and he scored a run, Alex Geislinger and Mathew Pennertz both earned walks.

The Clippers of the Central Valley League defeated their Corn Belt League foe the Rails, backed by 16 hits, including 5 extra base hits. The Clippers, veteran lefty, Dan Berg started on the mound, he threw a complete game to earn the win. He scattered 7 hits, issued one walk, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Dan Berg had a good game at the plate too, he went 3-3 with with a double for 2 RBI's, he earned 2 walks, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Veteran outfielder Gary Peters had a good game, he went 3-4 with a double for 3 RBI's, he was hit by a pitch and he scored 3 runs. Kevin Kramer went 2-6 for 2 RBI's and he scored a run and Heath Kramer went 2-3 with a double, he earned a walk, he had a sacrifice bunt and he scored 2 runs. Tyler Hebrink went 1-5 with a double for a RBI and Dan Sargent went 1-4 with a triple for a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Trevor Lardy threw 2 innings in relief, he gave up 2 hits and Andrew Allar threw the final inning in relief, he faced just 3 batters. The Express defeated their Central Valley League rivals the Gussies, backed by a good pitching performances by a pair of the Express players. Ben Johnson, started on the mound, he threw 8 innings to earn the win. He scattered 4 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Jordan Joseph threw the final inning in relief to earn the save, he gave up a hit and he recorded a strikeout. Ben Johnson had a good game at the plate too, he went 2-3 with a double for 2 RBI's and he earned a walk. Brian Marquardt went 1-4 with a double and Scott Marquardt went 1-4 with a double. It was Dylan Criquet-Danielson leading the way, he went 2-3 with a home run and he was hit by pitch. Riley Carpenter went 1-4 with a double and Nolan Schaefer went 2-4. Andy Schmidt went 1-4 and Brain Dolan earned a walk.

The Saints, Ryan Fransen, started on the mound, he threw a complete game, he gave up just 6 hits, issued a walk, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Dakota Freiborg went 2-4 and Jeremy Hinderks went 1-3 and he earned a walk. Trent Novotny went 1-4, Ryan Hebrink went 1-4, Nate Hebrink went 1-3 and he was hit by a pitch, Mike Johnson was hit by a pitch and Mike Kutcher earned walk.

 

WATKINS CLIPPERS 1 LUXEMBURG BREWERS 0 (7/30 @ GF)

The Clippers defeated their Central Valley League rivals the Brewers in a very good pitchers dual. Player/manager, Matt Geislinger started on the mound for the Clippers, he threw a complete game. He scattered 5 hits, issued 2 walks, no runs and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Matt Geislinger also led the Clippers offense, he went 2-3 with a RBI and Tyler Hebrink went 1-4 and he scored the lone run of the game. Dan Sargent went 2-3 and he earned a walk and Kevin Kramer went 1-4 with 2 stolen bases. Adam Hiltner went 1-3 and he earned a walk and Dan Berg earned a walk and he had a stolen base. Lincoln Haugen and Gary Peters both had sacrifice bunts and Heath Kramer earned a walk.

The Brewers, lefty Austin Klaverkamp started and he threw a complete game, he scattered 7 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Isaac Matchinsky went 1-3 with a double and he earned a walk and Colton Fruth went 1-3 with a triple. Sam Iten, Derrick Orth and Austin Klaverkamp all went 1-4 for the Brewers.

 


RAYMOND ROCKETS 4 COLD SPRING ROCKIES 2 (7/30 @ Milroy)

The Rockets of the Corn Belt League defeated their Central Valley League foe the Rockies in a very close ball game. The game was tied at 2-2, when the Rockets put up 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning, with a big single by Tyler Steen. The Rockets, Cole Christensen started on the mound, he threw 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, issued 4 walks, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 3 strikeouts. John Sawatzky threw 2/3 of an inning, he gave up 2 hits, issued one walk and one run. Alex Lotthammer threw 2 1/3 innings in relief to earn the win, he gave up 2 hits, issued 2 walks and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Tyler Steen went 1-4 with 2 big RBI's and Jordan Smith went 2-2 with a RBI. Eric Hulterstrum went 1-2 with a double and Mike Jeseritz went 2-4 and he scored 2 runs. Justin Koenen went 1-4 and Kyle Knott went 1-5.

The Rockies, Eli Backes started on the mound, he threw 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered 2 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Brandon Gill threw the final inning in relief, he gave up a hit and 2 runs. David Jonas had a big game, he went 3-5 with 2 RBI's and Jordan Neu went 1-4 and he scored 2 runs. The Nicks came from behind to defeat their Central Valley League rivals the Lakers, backed by 17 hits and a huge 9th inning. The Nicks sent 11 batters to the plate, they collected 7 hits and they put up 6 runs. The Nicks Grant Mrozek started on the mound, he threw 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, 5 walks and he surrendered 7 runs. Matt Schindler threw 3 innings in relief to earn the win, he gave up 3 hits and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Matt Schindler also had a good day at the plate, he went 2-6 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Hunter Ahrens went 3-5 and he scored a run, Andrew Bautch went 3-5 with a RBI and he scored 2 runs and Brett Hofer went 3-4 with a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Jon Hofer went 3-3 with a RBI and had scored a run and Travis Hanson went 1-4 with 2 RBI's, he earned a walk and he scored a run. ST. JOSEPH JOES 6 CLEAR LAKE LAKERS 4 (7/29 @ St. Joseph)

The Joes defeated their Sauk Valley League rivals the Lakers in a game that was a pitching dual till the 8th inning. The Joes put 6 runs, highlighted by Peter Nelson's grand slam. The Joes Alex Kendall started on the mound, he threw a complete game to earn the win. He scattered 9 hits, surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Peter Nelson went 2-5 with his grand slam for 4 big RBI's and Eric Vigil went 2-4 with 2 RBI's. Ben Alvord called a very good game from his catcher position, he went 1-3 at the plate. Joey Stock went 1-4 and he scored a run and Alex Kendall earned a walk, a sacrifice bunt and he was hit by a pitch. Zach Overboe went 1-1, Isaac Holthaus went 1-1 and he scored a run and Brandon Bloch earned a walk. Hunter Blommer, Joey Atkinson, Greg Anderson and Tanner Blommer all scored runs.

The Lakers, Mike Smith started on the mound, he threw 7 innings, he gave up just 4 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered 2 runs and he recorded 8 strikeouts. The Springers defeated their Class A rivals the Millers, backed by 9 hits, including a huge home run by Joe Dempsey. The Springers, Zach Femrite started on the mound, he threw 6 innings to earn the win. He gave up just 3 hits, and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Justin Thompson threw 3 innings in relief to earn the save, he gave up 3 hits, issued 2 walks and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Joe Dempsey went 1-4 with a his 2 run home run and Zach Hinkemeyer went 2-4 with a big RBI. Alex Jungels went 2-4 with a double and he scored a run and Brian Hansen went 2-4 and he scored a run. Eric Loxtercamp went 1-4 and Ryan Holthaus went 1-2 and he earned a walk.

No information on who the Millers pitcher was. Conner Trygstad went 2-4 and Blaine Rutledge went 1-4 with a stolen base. Joe Schellenberger earned a walk and he was hit by a pitch and Mike Davis went 1-3 and he earned a walk. Kyle Hoffman went 1-4 and Steve Schmitz went 1-4.

The Saints were defeated by a Class A foe the Millers in a good ball game, where the Miller put up 3 runs in the 8 inning on a 3 run home run. Brandon Broxey threw 9 innings to earn the win. He gave up just 3 hits, issued 3 walks, surrendered one run and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Joe Shallenberger went 1-3 with his 3 run home run and a sacrifice fly for 4 RBI's and he earned a walk. Mike Davis went 2-5 with a double and he scored a run and Blain Rutledge went 1-3 with a walk, a stolen base, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Eric Fasnacht went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt, he walked and he scored a run and Kyle Hoffman went 1-4 and he scored a run. Josh Falk went 1-2, Steve Schmitz went 1-4 and Conner Olson went 1-4.

The Beaudreaus, Tommy Auger started on the mound, he scattered 8 hits, issue just one walk, surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Ryan Schneider went 2-4 with a double for a RBI and Tommy Auger went 1-4. Tom Imholte earned a walk and he scored a run, Nick Maiers and Dominic Austing both earned walks.
