SCSU Husky Baseball Wrap-Up

March 9, 2017 Game Summary

SCSU Huskies 20 Malone University 5 (Tucson, Arizona)

The Huskies pounded out 23 hits to defeat Malone University 20-5, this included 6 extra base hits. Lefty Dominic Austin got the start on the mound, the Cathedral graduate threw 3 2/3 innings to earn the win, he gave up 3 hits and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Lefty Kevin Bolder of Tomahawk, Wisconsin threw 1 1/3 innings, he gave up 3 hits, 4 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Freshman right hander, Zach Iten, of Watertown-Mayer High School threw one inning of relief, he retired the three batters he faced. The 6'2" right hander, Ryan Wesley, from Holmen, Wisconsin threw 1 inning, he gave up 2 hits, 1 run and he recorded one strikeout.

The offense was on the roll in this game, the sophomore from Plover, Wisconsin Mitch Mallek led the way with a 4-5 performance. He had a double and a triple to drive in four runs and he scored 3 runs. The senior from Sunnyvale, Texas Zach Metzger had a good game, he went 3-4 with a pair of doubles for 2 RBI's, he scored 3 runs and he was hit by a pitch. The junior from St. Croix Lutheran High School, Jackson Goplen, had a good game, he went 2-3 with a triple to drive in two runs, he scored a pair of runs and he earned a walk. The sophomore from New Ulm High School, Judd Davis went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and the senior from Redwood Valley High School, Logan Swan, went 2-2 with 4 RBI's, he walked, had a stolen base and he had a sacrifice fly. The sophomore from Las Vegas, Nevada, Ethan Ibarra, went 1-1 with a RBI and he scored a run and Cooper Maas, a junior from Burnsville went 1-4 and he scored a pair of runs. The sophomore from Sauk Rapids, Mathew Meyer had an awesome game, he went 4-5 with a double for 2 RBI's and he scored 3 runs. The Cathedral graduate, a junior, Bo Schmitz went 3-4 with a double for 2 RBI's and he scored four runs. The Kimball Express shortstop and St. Michael-Albertville graduate, Jordan Joseph, went 1-2 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he earned a walk.

The Huskies will take the field again on Saturday March 11th Dakota State College at 12:30 and Waldorf College at 4:00 in Tucson, Arizona.
