ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI)- The St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders defeated the Foley Falcons on Monday night at Dick Putz Field.
Down 1-0 in the bottom of the 2nd, Jackson Jangula hit a RBI single to tie the game at 1.
Cathedral took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd on James Anderson's 2 RBI single. Anderson struck again in the 5th inning hitting a bases loaded triple to put Cathedral up 6-1.
Crusaders starter Rudy Sauerer was in control all night. He threw 6 1/3 innings giving up only 1 run and striking out 6 Foley batters. Sauerer also hit a 2 RBI single in the 6th inning to give Cathedral a 10-1 lead. For his efforts, Sauerer was named the All-Star Trophy and Awards Player of the Game.
Foley scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th but it wasn't enough as the Crusaders came away with a 10-4 victory.
With the win, Cathedral improves to 8-7 on the year and 8-4 in Granite Ridge conference play. They will be at home against Albany on Tuesday night. That game will be broadcast live on KNSI with coverage beginning at 6:45.
With the loss, Foley falls to 8-7 and 6-4 in conference play. They are at home against Milaca on Tuesday night.
