Cabin Fever? What Cabin Fever?

I know for many of you it is now getting a little old... cold, snow, winter, UHGGG! Alright, calm down. Think half full not half empty. Think positive not negative. Think indoors and outdoors.

That's right. In the midst of what seems to be an endless winter comes some of the best times of the year. Let's start outside. Ice-fishing is getting close to the best action of the year. But as always, be safe and smart when it comes to wandering onto any of Minnesota's 10,000 lakes. Crappies and Bluegills will begin moving shallow soon. And they will actually be hungry. For the angler it is a fun time of year. And if you have never tried it, tag along with someone and get a taste of what may just become a winter favorite activity for you. Snowmobilers, you can actually ride without the grinding sound of track on gravel. Enjoy it while you got it. Cross country skiing. I got nothing else for you here. Does it look like I ski?

Alright, let's go inside. High School hockey and basketball tournament play is already getting into full swing. It's closing in on March Madness in the NCAA's. And despite the Gophers spiraling like a just flushed toilet, they should actually get into the big dance for a change. Husky hockey is trying to claim its first WCHA regular season title. The Gophers are in the hunt as well. Gopher women's hockey is 32-0 on the season. The new look Minnesota Wild is trying to become relevant again. And for those who just put a pinch between their cheek and gums, the NASCAR season is at hand. (we in no way endorse or promote the use of smokeless tobacco products). Our lawyers just sighed and wiped the sweat off their brow. For those of us who breathe NFL 12 months a year, there are the combines and the draft not too far away. And just think, the 4th of July is only months away (OK, that is pushing it a bit).

So I say, let Mother Nature rage on. I've seen her and she's not so bad. Plus with the right frame of mind, this time of year can actually be more than tolerated. It can be enjoyed and even looked forward to. With that said, does anyone want to shovel my driveway and walkway? I am getting sick of doing it.
