ST. CLOUD, Minn (MSC) - The life of a high school junior playing football at a high level can start to get very interesting. St. Cloud Apollo Quarterback Ben Alvord fits that category.
Alvord put on a display of that high level play once again this past Friday and earned himself All Star Trophy and Awards player of the week honors.
In route to a 42-20 victory on the road against Sauk Rapids-Rice, Alvord keyed the Eagle offense, accounting for 4 of the 6 touchdowns. Alvord and the Eagles are now a flawless 3-0 this fall, with a key "show me" match-up with the also unblemished Brainerd Warriors next week.
With the game knotted at seven early on, Alvord connected from 10 yards out with wide out Jeremy Koffi to give the Eagles a lead they'd never relinquish. Alvord would run for consecutive scores, and pass for another, a 35 yard strike, before the night was out.
In all Alvord finished the game, heard on AM 1450, FM 103.3 KNSI, with 11 completions on 19 attempts for 162 yards, two passing TDs and two rushing.
Congratulations to Ben Alvord, Apollo Eagle junior quarterback for being this week's Metro Sports Commission player of the week.
