Matt Wood

Sports Director for KNSI Radio

Matt Wood has spent years moving across the country before ending up in Minnesota. He was born in Mansfield, Ohio before his family moved to Worthington Ohio where he attended grade and middle school. Before his Freshman year of High School, his family moved to Kennesaw Georgia, where he spent the next 14 years of his life.

While in Georgia, Wood found a love in sports talk radio. He started off by interning at WQXI ‘790 The Zone’ on the afternoon show “Southern Comfort” hosted by Matt Chernoff and Chuck Oliver. He also spent time as an assistant producer on ‘The Chris Dimino Show’ and then again with Matt Chernoff and Chuck Smith. His biggest achievement during his time in Georgia was meeting his future wife Andrea. When he moved to Minnesota, he started at KNSI in 2010, as a board-op with the sports department. Over the years he has made his presence felt in the sports, news and on-air departments of KNSI. His favorite part of his job as Sports Director at KNSI is the two hour show "The Benchwarmers" on Saturdays with JW Cox, the voice of the St. Cloud State Football and Basketball teams. Wood is also the host of the St. Cloud State Hockey pregame and color analyst for Husky Football.

As for his family, his father, Kevin Wood is a Vice President of New Flyer, his mother is a retired school teacher, and his only brother is the director of parts at New Flyer. His wife Andrea works in St. Cloud as phlebotomist. In January of 2014 Andrea and Matt added the newest member to the family with their son Everett Deacon Wood.

Matt enjoys spending time with his family, being disappointed in the Cleveland Browns, watching local sports and boating on the Mississippi River north of the dam in Sartell.
