Stearns County ID's Deputy In Rockville Shooting

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Chad Meemken has been identified as the Stearns County Sheriff that shot homicide suspect Marcus Barshaw earlier this week in Rockville.
Meemken has served with the Stearns County Sheriff's office for over six years, and also serves on the the Benton-Stearns Special Emergency Response Team.
Early Sunday morning Marcus Barshaw was on the run after allegedly shooting and killing 30-year old Rockville man, Jeffery Schutz. When Officers tracked down Barshaw he was in possesion of a firearm, he then ignored orders to put the weapon down and surrender. Officers were forced to shoot Barshaw three times.
Meemken has been placed on administrative leave, a routine step while the shooting is investigated, and is expected to return to work Tuesday.
