APPLE VALLEY, MN (KNSI) - Moose at the Minnesota Zoo will be living in luxury from now on, they're now sleeping on waterbeds.
It is all part of a new study gauging the impact of heat stress on the animals.
Two of the zoo's holding stalls are now set up with the waterbeds -- that's a big upgrade from the rubber mats and straws usually found for sleeping the moose enclosure. Researchers want to see if the rubber mat is keeping the animals too warm.
Preliminary results of the study should be assembled by early next year.
