DULUTH, Minn. (AP) - International Falls is generally known for its brutally cold temperatures, but not in the past few days.
Temperatures hit a record 77 degrees there Saturday afternoon. That was a full 22 degrees above the previous record, set in 1968.
Saturday marks the fifth straight day of record highs there, and seventh day in the past eight.
Temperatures also set records in Duluth, where measurements of 75 degrees at the airport beat the previous record of 61 degrees, also in 1968.
Other temperatures in the region included 79 in Orr, 78 in the Twin Cities and 77 at Moose Lake.
A Duluth News Tribune report (http://bit.ly/FOSNMa ) says temperatures are still cool close to the frigid waters of Lake Superior. The high near shore was just 43 degrees about 3 p.m.
