Would-be St. Paul burglar gets 11 years

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) A man whose alleged burglary attempt of a St. Paul home was foiled by two women and a pink gun has been sentenced to almost 11 years in prison.

Marty Mark Childs pleaded guilty in October to first-degree burglary. He was sentenced Friday.

Prosecutors say Childs entered the home on a September afternoon through an unlocked back door, while 56-year-old Rebecca Larson was washing her car in the front driveway. Larson told investigators she walked in and found Childs standing next to her open purse.

Prosecutors say he tried to leave but Larson locked the door and called to her sleeping 34-year-old daughter to grab her pink 9 mm handgun. The two held Childs at gunpoint until police arrived.
