ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The Minnesota Department of Transportation says drivers can expect intermittent lane closures and possible delays as crews begin a major road project on Highway 71 between Bertha and Long Prairie Monday.

The lane closures will occur from sunrise to sunset Mondays through Saturdays along different segments of the road. Flaggers will allow alternating, one-way traffic through the work zones each day.

The project includes 24 miles of road resurfacing, installation of new guardrails and turn lanes. It should be finished in mid-August.

A short segment of Highway 71 in Browerville will not be resurfaced as part of this project. A separate project is planned for that segment of the highway.
