ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - The driver of a car which crashed into a St. Cloud townhouse says she slammed into the building after swerving suddenly to avoid an animal in roadway.

According to Assistant Police Chief Sue Stawarski, 35 year-old Christina Neely veered off the roadway before slamming into the building.

Neely told authorities, while she was taking the curve in the road, an unknown animal ran into her path, causing her to straighten her wheel, jump the curb and hit the building.

A passenger in Neely's vehicle was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with injuries.

According to the original report from police, the crash happened just after 5:00 a.m. at 805 15th Avenue Southeast.

Seven people in two townhouses were displaced. The Red Cross was assisting those people with temporary housing.

The occupants of the townhouses were not hurt.
