HUDSON, Wis. (AP) — A 25-year-old man has pleaded guilty to starting a fire at a western Wisconsin elementary school that displaced students and caused an estimated $4 million in damage.

Justin Nelson of Roberts pleaded guilty to arson of a building last Friday in St. Croix County. Court records say charges of criminal damage to property, burglary and possession of THC were dismissed.

Nelson was accused of starting a fire at St. Croix Central Elementary School in Roberts during a break-in April 30. The fire forced more than 600 students in kindergarten through fourth grade to finish the school year at a nearby Girls Scout camp.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports repairs were made during the summer, and students were back in the building for first day of school Tuesday.
