ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) A Winter Storm Watch goes into effect for central and southern Minnesota at 6 pm Sunday.

The National Weather Service says a winter storm will impact the northern plains and upper midwest from Sunday through Tuesday. This system may bring snowfall accumulations of six inches or more to much of central and southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

Accumulating snow will develop Sunday night and continue through through Monday night before diminishing on Tuesday.

Cities included in the Winter Storm Watch include St. Cloud, Little Falls, Alexandria, Willmar, New Ulm, Redwood Falls, Mankato, and the Twin Cities.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for western and northwestern Minnesota, including Fergus Falls, Moorhead, Thief River Falls, Crookston and Detroit Lakes. Eight to 12 inches of snow with locally higher amounts are possible in the warning area.
