The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for northern Minnesota from late tonight through Friday morning.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow that may impact travel.

Forecasters say rain is expected to change to snow tonight and continue through Thursday, and the snow may be heavy at times.

Snow accumulations of six inches or more are possible, and visibilities may be near zero on Thursday with falling and blowing snow.

Some cities in the Winter Storm Watch are Crookston, Thief River Falls, Roseau, Bemidji, International Falls and Ely.
