ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) St. Cloud and all of central Minnesota are in a Winter Storm Warning this weekend. The warning is in effect from 6 pm Saturday to midnight Sunday night.
The National Weather Servcie Office in Chanhassen says will enter west-central and southwest Minnesota by the early evening hours Saturday.
Snow will spread into far western Minnesota by Saturday afternoon, and then develop east across eastern Minnesota by late Saturday afternoon. The snow could be heavy at times. Snowfall accumulations in the Winter Storm Warning area will range from 5 to 8 inches, with the highest totals north of a line from Alexandria to Buffalo to Anoka.
Near blizzard conditions may develop Sunday afternoon in ports of western and southern Minnesota. The greatest threat for near blizzard conditions will be west of a line from Alexandria to Willmar to Mankato.
Strong northwest winds will develop behind the storm system, with speeds of 15 to 30 mph, and some gusts up to 40 mph over western Minnesota by Sunday afternoon. Whiteout conditions may be possible at times. Areas of blowing snow will be possible across the remainder of south central Minnesota and portions of east central Minnesota by Sunday afternoon.
