ST. CLOUD, Minn (KNSI) - A winter storm warning for an area including St. Cloud has been pushed back to begin at 4 PM Thursday afternoon and last until 1 PM Friday.

Initially the warning was to begin at 1 PM Thursday and last through 7 PM Friday night. Forecasters still say heavy snow will develop in Central Minnesota this afternoon north and west of a line from the Twin Cities through Mankato. A wintry mix is expected at the onset of the storm this afternoon, changing to heavy snow at times tonight and Friday morning.

Initial accumulation estimates have backed off some, but forecasters still say 6 to 10 inches are possible by the time the storm ends Friday afternoon.

Winds could increase to the 15 to 25 mile per hour range with gusts around 40 miles per hour late tonight and early Friday.

This snowfall is expected to bring wet, heavy snow. Officials are urging caution while traveling and shoveling.
