MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KNSI) The Natonal Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for east-central portions of the state, including the Twin Cities metro area from midnight until noon on Monday.

The warning area is generally east of a line from St. Cloud to Faribault. Moderate to occasionally heavy snow will develop Sunday night and persist through the Monday morning commute.

The snow will begin to taper off by mid-morning on Monday. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are expected.

North and west of the warning area, lesser amounts of snow are expected, and a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect.

Two to four inches of snow are possible in the advisory area, which is east of a line from Long Prairie to Albert Lea.
