ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The site for a new community aquatic center in St. Cloud has been chosen.
Monday night--on a unanimous vote--the St. Cloud City Council voted to place the facility at Whitney Regional Park.
The YMCA is partnering with the city on the project. Construction could begin in 2015.
In 2004, St. Cloud voters approved using $10 million local sales tax dollars to help fund the project.
Preliminary plans call for the aquatic center to be 130,000 square feet in size, with 280 on-site parking spaces.
