ELBOW LAKE, Minn. (KNSI) State Senator Torrey Westrom of Elbow Lake is announcing today that he's running for Congress in Minnesota's Seventh District.
Westrom was first elected to the Legislature in 1996, and after serving in the House, was elected to his first term in the Senate in 2012.
After losing his sight in a farm-related accident at the age of 14, Westrom became a strong advocate for the disabled.
Westrom is an attorney. He and his wife Anna are small business owners and have three children.
The Seventh District Congressional seat is now held by Democrat Collin Peterson, who is in his 12th term.
