WAITE PARK, MN (KNSI) - Waite Park city officials held a meeting Tuesday with about two-dozen residents of St. Joseph Township that could be annexed into the city January first. The council will vote on the annexation in September.
Proposed annexation would affect fourteen property owners in an area between the Sauk River and Stearns County Road 137. Waite Park Mayor Rick Miller says the city wants to annex the properties to control future development, and make sure it's in line with the city's comprehensive plan.
Owners of the property were told Tuesday that they would not have to hook up to city water and sewer services, and their tax rates will stay the same. Addresses would have to be changed, but that would not happen immediately.
