Waite Park motel evacuated

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) A Waite Park motel was evacuated Wednesday afternoon after police received a report of a suicidal man who was possibly armed.

The call came in just after 12:30. A family member of the 20 year-old man called police.

Through their investigation, officers located the man's vehicle at Motel 6 in Waite Park, and he was believed to be staying in one of the rooms.

The motel was evacuated and members of the St. Cloud Police Department's Tactical Response Team were sent to the scene.

Officers negotiated with the man, and he exited the motel peacefully and was taken into custody. No weapon was located.

Waite Park police and the Stearns County Sheriff's Department assisted St. Cloud police.
