ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) More Minnesotans could vote by mail if a bill in the Legislature has a successful outcome.
Representative Roger Erickson of Baudette is sponsoring House File 224--which would give all cities with fewer than 1,000 voters outside the Twin Cities metropolitian area the opportunity to conduct local and state elections by mail.
A League of Minnesota Cities lobbyist says under the bill, 60 percent of Minnesota cities would qualify for vote-by-mail elections.
A House committee tabled the bill for a later meeting. There is no companion bill in the Senate.
