ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) A St. Cloud State vice president is leaving the university just a few months after he was hired.

Douglas Vinzant is leaving for a job at the University of Southern Mississippi. He was hired in December as a vice president for finance and administration at SCSU. He'll hold a similar position at Southern Mississippi.

St. Cloud State President Earl Potter says he regrets Vinzant's departure. He says Vinzant had been offered a job at Southern Mississippi last summer before coming to St. Cloud State. He says a series of leadership changes at Southern Mississippi led to the offering being presented again last month.

The move will allow Vinzant to be closer to family members. His last day at SCSU will be June 7th.

A national search for a replacement will be initiated soon.
