SARTELL, MN (KNSI) - Most of the authority at the Verso paper mill in Sartell has been transferred back to the company. It comes eight days after a fire and explosion rocked the mill, killing one employee and injuring four.
The precise location of the explosion and fire in a warehouse area remains under control of the State Fire Marshal's Office, which is investigating the cause of the blast.
Meanwhile, small fires continue to flare from paper rolls as they are exposed to oxygen during demolition. Sartell City Administrator Patti Gartland says those fires can be handled by the demolition contractor hired by Verso.
On Monday, area economic development officials met at Sartell City Hall to discuss financial options that might be available to Verso to get the plant back up and running.
