ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - It could be a weekend without electricity for thousands of Xcel energy customers in our area.
The early Friday morning storm, with winds exceeding 60 miles per hour, snapped trees, broke power poles and downed power lines. Energy crews have restored power to more than 113,000 customers in Minnesota communities hard hit by a severe thunderstorm.
Spokeswoman Mary Sandok says Xcel says crews continue work to restore service as quicklyas possible to an estimated 19,600 customers without service in the St. Cloud area.
Xcel Energy estimates that power will be restored to the vast majority of customers in the St. Cloud area by Monday afternoon.
More severe weather tonight and during the weekend could also affect restoration times.
