ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - Fire officials in St. Cloud are now confirming a car fire early Friday morning was not an accident.
Assistant Fire Marshall Lynn Cook tells KNSI their investigation revealed the arsonist forced their way inside the vehicle to start the blaze.
Crews responded to a call about the fire just after 6:30 a.m.
Cooks says there were about 15-20 cars in the immediate area of the 2007 black Monte Carlo in question. They says they're not certain why that vehicle, belonging to an SCSU student from Albert Lea, was targeted.
St. Cloud has seen a rash of arson fires in dumpsters over the past few months, Cook says for now this fire does not appear related.
There is a $2,500 reward for tips leading to an arrest. If you have any information on this morning's fire, dial the arson hotline at 1-800-723-2020.
