ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) The United Way of Central Minnesota is holding an event Thursday that's aimed at helping out homeless kids.
Marketing and communications manager Jessica Johnson tells KNSI News it's called "Back to the Basics," and it's being held from 7 am to 1 pm at Pioneer Place on Fifth.
She says they'll be collecting toiletries to give to homeless children--thinks like toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, body wash and shampoo.
Johnson says while food shelves are a great resource for homeless children, there are hygiene issues that need to be addressed too.
They're looking specifically for travel-size toiletries.
Once the items are collected, they'll be distrubuted by Catholic Charities, St. Cloud School Districdt 742 and the Salvation Army.
