ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - The United Way of Central Minnesota awarded local businesses for helping raise awareness in the fight to end poverty.
CEO Jon Ruis says there were over 200 area companies that particpate in the non-profit group's campaigns.
"It's just a really huge thank you to everybody who's doing a little tiny bit or a big bit, you're really helping out people in our community that really need it the most," Ruis said.
There were six categories of awards given to small (1-99 employees) and large companies (over 100 employees).
-Best Year-Round Partnership: Quinlivan & Hughes (small), Xcel Energy (large)
-Rise to the Challenge: Eich Motor Company (small), GNP Company (large)
-Best Use of Technology: Geo-Comm Inc. (small), Marco Inc. (large)
-Best Special Event: Leighton Broadcasting (small), Park Industries (large)
-Best Volunteer Engagement: GB & Co. Hair-Skin-Spa (small), Stearns Bank N.A. (large)
-Best in Show: U.S. Bank (small), Automotive Parts Headquarters (large)
