ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Two St. Cloud State football players have been suspended from this weekend's playoff game against Northwest Missouri State after scuffling with police outside the Press Bar in downtown St. Cloud last weekend.
Seniors Marvin Matthews and Renard Robinson will not play Saturday. Both men were booked into the Stearns County Jail after police were called to a disturbance outside the bar. Robinson is looking at a charge of disorderly conduct while Matthews could face that same charge and an additional charge of obstructing the legal process.
Athletic Director Heather Weems met with police to talk about the disturbance before the decision was made to suspend the two players.
Meanwhile, the Huskies football team gets a head start on their road trip Thursday. Coach Scott Underwood tells KNSI Sports the team will travel to Des Moines today to escape the cold and snow, and will practice at Drake University.
Weems has connections there. She's a former associate athletic director at Drake.
