ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - Two men are now facing charges of attempted murder following a shooting in St. Cloud on Friday.
Criminal complaints were filed in Stearns County Court today, charging 22 year-old Andre Kidd and 23 year-old Benjamin Lenoir with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, and being felons in possessions of a firearm.
The defendants are alleged to have broken into a duplex at 412 17th Avenue North on Friday morning.
The victim tells authorities that he and his girlfriend had just arrived home when the three masked and gloved men kicked in his front door, held him at gunpoint and demanded money and drugs.
The victim reportedly recognized Kidd, who he identified as the "ringleader," giving orders to the other men involved.
One of the men struck the victim in the head with the gun. He was then forced to kneel on the ground with a handgun pointed to his head.
Kidd then ordered one of the other men to fire the gun. The victim was shot, but suffered non life-threatening injuries.
St. Cloud police tracked footprints from the shooting to a residence at 1507 Second Street North. That's where they found a loaded .380 handgun, along with the victim's driver's license and credit cards.
Both Kidd and Lenoir made their first appearances in Stearns County District Cout today, with bail set at $1 million without conditions, and $500,000 with conditions.
Both men are expected back in court on the afternoon of March 25th.
