WILLMAR, Minn. (KNSI) - Two teenagers are in custody in connection with the murder of a 79 year-old Willmar woman earlier this week.
Kandiyohi County Sheriff Daniel Hartog says members of his department, along with agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, arrested 19 year-old Brok Junkermeier and an unidentified 16 year-old late Wednesday evening.
The body of 79 year-old Lila Warwick was discovered by deputies during a welfare check at her home outside of Willmar just after 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Warwick's body was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office shortly thereafter.
Results indicate Warwick had multiple stab wounds and neck injuries "consistent with strangulation."
Junkermeier was booked into the Kandiyohi County Jail on charges of 2nd Degree Murder and 1st Degree Burglary.
The 16 year old is currently in the custody of the Prairie Lakes Youth Program Detention Facility in Willmar realted to liability crimes of another for 2nd Degree Murder and 1st Degree Burglary.
Both teens are awaiting court hearings for formal charges by the Kandiyohi County Attorney's Office.
There's no word yet on exact motive or whether the suspects knew Warwick. She was reportedly retired, lived alone and helped with office duties and vacation Bible school at Redeemer Lutheran church.
