Trial set for April in Minnesota synthetic drug death

ANOKA, Minn. (AP) - A trial date has been set for the 21-year-old man accused of supplying a synthetic drug that killed a man at a Blaine party.

Timothy LaMere is scheduled to go on trial April 16. LaMere is charged with third-degree murder for allegedly supplying 2C-E to 19-year-old Trevor Robinson.

Documents say Robinson took the synthetic drug at the party last March and died hours later. Ten others also took the drug and became ill.

Preliminary autopsy results said Robinson died of cardiac arrest attributed to drug toxicity.

The Star Tribune reports the mother of Robinson's 14-month-old son attended LaMere's pretrial hearing Wednesday in Anoka County District Court.

LaMere has been in jail since March. Another pretrial hearing is set for Feb. 8.
