ST. PAUL, Minn. (KNSI) Secretary of State Mark Ritchie announced today is National Voter Registration Day.
The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State will be working with the National Association of Secretaries of State, League of Minnesota Cities and Minnesota Council of Nonprofits to coordinate statewide voter registration efforts.
National Voter Registration Day was established to encourage voter participation, increase awareness of voter registration deadlines and provide information on voter eligibility requirements prior to the November 6th general election.
State law requires Minnesotans to be registered at their current address before they are allowed to vote. The deadline to pre-register for the general election is October 16th. Minnesota voters can also register at the polls on Election Day.
