ST. CLOUD, Minn (KNSI) - Three people were injured over the weekend in a pair of snowmobile accidents in Central Minnesota.
A melrose man suffered a leg injury when his snowmobile hit a snow-bank and he was thrown from the sled Saturday afternoon. Glenn Hinnenkamp was riding a 1999 yamaha snowmobile when it all happened southwest of Freeport near Lake Maria.
Hinnenkamp was transported by ambulance to Melrose Hospital. The stearns County Sheriff, Freeport Rescue and Melrose Ambulance all assisted with the incident.
Another snowmobile crash in Crow Wing County severely injured two men Sunday. It happened just off County Road 142 in an open field near the Brainered Airport. A 47-year-old burnsville man and a 52 year old man from Eden Prairie were both severly injured. One was taken to a hospital in Robbinsdale, the other to Brainerd. Both mens were wearing helmets at the time of the crash and were riding near a designated snowmobile trail.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
