ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) Tuesday was the deadline for candidates interested in running for a vacant state legislative seat in St. Cloud to file to get their name on the ballot.
At this point, it appears to be a three candidate race.
Those filing are Democrat Joanne Dorsher, Republican Tama Theis and Independence Party candidate Todd McKee. They're running for the seat vacated by Republican Steve Gottwalt--who resigned.
Theis won the endorsement of Republicans at a special convention held last Saturday.
Democrats hold their special convention this Saturday at the St. Cloud Library--where Dorsher is expected to win the endorsement. She's a former St. Cloud School Board member who ran against Gottwalt for a House seat in 2008.
McKee is a small business owner from Waite Park who plans to focus on door-to-door campaigning.
Candidates have until today to withdraw from the race.
The special election will be held February 12th.
