ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KNSI) - An area high school has extra security on campus after a threat was reported.

Police officers and staff are monitoring the hallways at Foley High School because a number of students and parents reached out to the district about a rumor of a potential threat at school on Thursday.

Classes will go on like normal as officials investigate the potential threat.

The threat revolves around a rumor about an inappropriate comment made by a student about the safety of others.

Foley School Superintendent Paul Neubauer says they haven’t been able to find the source of the rumor but the school is still taking precautions.

He says, as with any rumor, there are several different versions and many have been changed and distorted as they were repeated.

School administration wouldn’t comment on the exact nature of the threat.

Student were told about the rumor during their 6th period class on Wednesday.
