SARTELL, MN (KNSI) - Good news for teachers in the Sartell-St. Stephen school district as they are closing in on a new contract Wednesday.
The new deal, still called tentative while waiting for final approval by both sides, comes after nearly a full year of negotiations. Sartell teachers have been working without a contract since July of last year.
Under the new pact, instructors would receive a 1.75 percent salary hike this school year with another 1 percent increase next year. The deal would cost the district about $36 million more over the two-year period.
Teachers approved the new deal last week, school board members will get their chance to vote on the new contract next Monday.
